The boson-fermion atomic bound states (composite fermion) and their roles for the phase structures are studied in a bose-fermi mixed condensate of atomic gas in finite temperature and density. The two-body scattering equation is formulated for a bosonfermion pair in the mixed condensate with the Yamaguchi-type potential. By solving the equation, we evaluate the binding energy of a composite fer...
In this letter it will be demonstrated explicitly that the finite-element formulation of quantum electrodynamics is free from fermion doubling. We do this by (1) examining the lattice fermion propagator and using it to compute the one-loop vacuum polarization on the lattice, and (2) by an explict computation of vector and axial-vector current anomalies for an arbitrary rectangular lattice in th...
We review and extend the composite fermion theory for semiconductor quantum dots in high magnetic fields. The mean-field model of composite fermions is unsatisfactory for the qualitative physics at high angular momenta. Extensive numerical calculations demonstrate that the microscopic CF theory, which incorporates interactions between composite fermions, provides an excellent qualitative and qu...
The low-energy excitations of filled Landau levels (LL's) of electrons involve promotion of a single electron from the topmost filled LL to the lowest empty LL. These are called excitons or collective modes. The incompress-ible fractional quantum Hall states are understood as filled LL's of composite fermions, and the low-energy neutral excitations are excitons of composite fermions. New techni...
We provide numerical evidence for composite fermion pairing in quantum Hall bilayer systems at filling nu=1/2+1/2 for intermediate spacing between the layers. We identify the phase as p_(x)+ip_(y) pairing, and construct high accuracy trial wave functions to describe the ground state on the sphere. For large distances between the layers, and for finite systems, a competing "Hund's rule" state, o...
The main purpose of this paper is to introduce a new composite heuristic for solving the generalized traveling salesman problem. The proposed heuristic is composed of three phases: the construction of an initial partial solution, the insertion of a node from each non-visited node-subset, and a solution improvement phase. We show that the heuristic performs very well on thirty six TSPLIB problem...
We extend the definition of the topological charge pertaining to the CP (i.e. O(3)) Skyrme-Fadde’ev Hopfion on IR, to candidates for topological charges of CP sigma models on IR, for all n. For this, the Abelian composite connections of the CP sigma models are employed. In higher dimensions (n ≥ 1) it turns out that such charges, described by the nonAbelian composite connections of suitable Gra...
The Gauge Technique has been applied to QED2+1 in the quenched case with infrared subtraction. The behaviour of the fermion propagator near the threshold is then found to be S(p) → (γ · p+m) (p −m) ( p −m 2m ) exp(− ης 2 ), where ς = e/(4πm) and this is gauge invariant except the exponential factor. We also find a spectral function in the Landau and Yennie like gauge. The propagators S(p) are e...
We study the diffraction of Gaussian pulses and beams within the framework of boundary diffraction wave theory. For the first time the boundary diffraction wave theory is applied to pulsed Gaussian beams, and it is shown that the diffracted field of a pulsed Gaussian beam on a circularly symmetric aperture can be evaluated by a single 1D integration along the diffracting aperture at every point...
