Project Goals • "Fuzzy" Navigation • Physically and Visually Intuitive • Large Libraries A traditional music library system controlled by a mouse and keyboard is precise, allowing users to select their desired song. Alternatively, randomized playlist or shuffles are used when users have no particular music in mind. We present a new interface and visualization system called Strike-A-Tune for fuz...

The strike force asset allocation problem consists of grouping strike force assets into packages and assigning these packages to targets and defensive assets in a way that maximizes the strike force potential. Integer programming formulations are developed, semi-real and random problems are built up, and computational results via the CPLEX MIP Solver are presented.

Active deformation in Alborz range is due to N-S convergence between Arabia and Eurasia. This paper provides geomorphic traces of regional deformation in NW Iran in order to characterize active faulting on major faults. Soltanieh and North Zanjan fault systems are involved in convergence boundary extent between South Caspian Basin and Central Iran. Soltanieh and North Zanjan faults are major re...

Pliocene and Quaternary tectonic structures mainly consisting of segmented northwest–southeast normal faults, and associated seismicity in the central Betics do not agree with the transpressive tectonic nature of the Africa–Eurasia plate boundary in the Ibero-Maghrebian region. Active extensional deformation here is heterogeneous, individual segmented normal faults being linked by relay ramps a...

This paper examines the relationship between Australian and world strike activity between 1960 and 1998. Appropriate indices are constructed for which evidence of a long-run equilibrium relation is found between Australian and world strike activity. The evidence suggests Australian and world strike rate indices are cointegrated with a breakpoint in that relation occurring sometime in the very l...

This paper studies symmetries between fixed and floating-strike Asian options and exploits this symmetry to derive an upper bound for the price of a floating-strike Asian. This bound only involves fixed-strike Asians and vanillas, and can be computed simply given one of the many efficient methods for pricing fixed-strike Asian options. The bound coincides with the true price until after the ave...

The bound is exact until after the averaging has begun and ...

occurred at 1.5 to 2.0 cm (Fig. 1). Strike success was similar when compared to prey number remaining, indicating that earlier predation events did not influence predation success. Juvenile toadfish are effective short-range ambush predators. At strike distances between 0 and 1.5 cm they strike successfully 76.2% of the time. But between 1.5 and 2.0 cm, strike success is mixed, and it continues...

The image logs interpretation from two wells in a fold hosting a west Iranian oil field located in the Dezful Embayment, SW Iran reveal the occurrence of two major systems of natural fractures. In the central part of the fold, the fold-related fractures include two sets of fractures trending N53°E and N34°E. In the eastern and also curved part of the fold, the strike of open fractures varies fr...

Although the biomechanical properties of the various types of running foot strike (rearfoot, midfoot, and forefoot) have been studied extensively in the laboratory, only a few studies have attempted to quantify the frequency of running foot strike variants among runners in competitive road races. We classified the left and right foot strike patterns of 936 distance runners, most of whom would b...
