This paper reports application of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) coated magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) as a novel adsorbent for removal of two types of disperse dyes, including disperse red 167, and disperse blue 183, from wastewater of textile companies. The effect of parameters including type of surfactant, pH of solution, surfactant concentration, and amount of salt, was investig...

We show here the influence of n-alcohols (C(2)OH-C(8)OH) on the solubility behavior of cationic-anionic surfactant mixtures, so-called "catanionics". We studied catanionics of different compositions composed of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and sodium dodecanoate (SDod)/CTAB mixtures. Interestingly, with a molar excess of SDS, long chain n-alcohols (C(4)OH-C...

Our study includes removal of Cr(VI) by using mixed surfactants (Non-ionic: Cationic). A common cationic surfactant Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB) with two different nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 and Tween-80 were used to remove Cr(VI) by micellar enhanced ultrafiltration technique. The effect of parameters such as initial feed metal ion concentration, pH and filtration time on % Reje...

Understanding how the surfactant molecular structure affects foam stability is important in various applications, such as soil remediation, food industry, enhanced oil recovery, and hydraulic fracturing. In this study, we conduct a systematic series of experiments Hele–Shaw cell to assess explain effect surfactants on foamability absence presence asphaltene aggregates. Four with different weigh...

In this study, the reinforcement of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with biotite was investigated. The biotite filler was mechanically activated with different dry surfactants to improve its compatibility with UHMWPE and decrease agglomeration among biotite particles. Alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride (ADBAC) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) were selected as cationi...

The present study presents the effective use of nanocrystalline akaganeite for the adsorption of an anionic (SDS), a cationic (CTAB), and a nonionic (tween80) surfactant from wastewater. Equilibrium experiments, as well as thermodynamic analysis, were performed. The maximum SDS adsorption occurs at the lowest pH value (5), the opposite is observed for CTAB (pH = 11), while for tween80, the chan...

In this paper, application of sawdust prepared from Narra wood (SD) modified with cationic surfactant of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (SD/CTAB) was used for removal of two typical acid dyes commercially named as Acid Green 25 (AG25) and Acid Red 14 (AR14) from aqueous solutions. The effects of experimental variables, such as pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose, contact time and temp...

We study the influence of different surfactants on NaCl crystallization during evaporation of aqueous salt solutions. We found that at concentrations of sodium chloride close to saturation, only the cationic surfactant CTAB and the nonionic surfactant Tween 80 remain stable. For the nonionic surfactant, the high concentration of salt does not significantly change either the critical micellar co...

The uncertainties in ZnO-mediated toxicity and particle stability a biological system remain challenge mitigate against deployment as next-generation nanoparticles (NPs), especially biomedical applications. With that perspective, the present study investigates surface chemical properties of ZnO NPs coated with three different surfactant biomolecules, namely polyethylene glycol (PEG), cetyltrime...

A three dimensional (3D) hierarchical silver supported tungsten oxide flower-like microsphere catalyst has been fabricated using a cationic surfactant CTAB. It was found that the crystal-splitting mechanism plays a key role in the formation of this flower-like structure. This catalyst was proved to be highly effective in the liquid phase selective oxidation of m-xylene to isophthalic acid.
