This paper is devoted to the study of the construction of new quantum MDS codes. Based on constacyclic codes over F q2 , we derive four new families of quantum MDS codes, one of which is an explicit generalization of the construction given in Theorem 7 in [22]. In this paper we give the structure of constacyclic codes over formal power series and chain rings. We also present necessary and sufficient conditions on the existence of MDS codes over principal ideal rings. These results allow for the construction of infinite families of MDS self-dual codes over finite chain rings, formal power series and principal ideal rings.

Each skew cyclic code is a F_p+vF_p+v^2F_p-submodule of the (F_p+vF_p+v^2F_p)[x;alpha], where v^3 = v and alpha(v) = -v. Also, we give an explicit forms for the generator of these codes. Moreover, an algorithm of encoding and decoding for these codes is presented.
