At a concentration of 9.6 x 10(-5)M, 2,6-diaminopurine (DAP) completely inhibited cell enlargement, cell division, and DNA synthesis (determined by microphotometric measurement of Feulgen dye) in Vicia faba roots. Inhibition of cell enlargement was partially reversed by adenine, guanine, xanthine, adenosine, and desoxyadenosine. Guanine and the nucleosides gave the greatest reversal, suggesting...

Daptomycin (DAP) is bactericidal against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in vitro, but it failed to eradicate MRSA in an experimental model of implant-associated infection. We therefore investigated various factors which could explain treatment failure by evaluating DAP activity, including the role of different cell wall components, adherence, biofilm, and calcium ions (Ca(2+...

BACKGROUND The Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) has suggested to asses pain after specific activities consistently in clinical trials on knee OA. The Dynamic weight-bearing Assessment of Pain (DAP) assesses pain during activity (30 s of performing repeated deep knee-bends from a standing position). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the construct validity, responsiven...

Cell cycle progression is controlled by a complex regulatory network consisting of interacting positive and negative factors. In humans, the positive regulator Skp2, an F-box protein, has been a subject of intense investigation in part because of its oncogenic activity. By contrast, the molecular and developmental functions of its Drosophila homologue, dSkp2, are poorly understood. Here we inve...

Nucleotide binding and oligomerization domain 1 (NOD1), a cytoplasmic pattern recognition receptor (PRR) and is a key component for modulating innate immunity and signaling. It is highly specific to γ-D-Glu-mDAP (iE-DAP), a cell wall component of Gram-negative and few Gram-positive bacteria. In the absence of the experimental structure of NOD1 leucine rich repeat (NOD1-LRR) domain, the NOD sign...

A study was undertaken to develop dietary fi bre enriched chevon rolls using dried apple pomace (DAP) at 2, 4 and 6% levels and corn bran (CB) at 3, 6 and 9% levels. Combinations of DAP and CB were also tried. DAP at 6% level, CB at 3% level and their combination (DAP +CB) at 2% + 3% levels were found to be organoleptically acceptable and selected for further study. Addition of fi bre resulted ...

Recently, DAP-kinase was identified as one of the essential regulators of autophagy, activated by signals such as cytokines and ER stress. DAP-kinase is a tumor suppressor that mediates several cell death pathways, such as apoptosis and programmed necrosis. Likewise, functional studies suggest that DAP-kinase may direct autophagy specifically towards autophagic cell death. Several recent studie...

The cistrome is the complete set of transcription factor (TF) binding sites (cis-elements) in an organism, while an epicistrome incorporates tissue-specific DNA chemical modifications and TF-specific chemical sensitivities into these binding profiles. Robust methods to construct comprehensive cistrome and epicistrome maps are critical for elucidating complex transcriptional networks that underl...

Herein, we synthesized 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) from o-phenylenediamine (OP) using fungal laccase as a biocatalyst. The conversion ratio of OP monomer was 85% and the yield of the final purified product, DAP, was 63%. The structure of the main product, DAP, was confirmed by using several spectroscopy techniques (UV-VIS, IR, 2DNMR, and MS).

A 68-year-old man with persistent bacteremia accompanying a large iliopsoas abscess, vertebral osteomyelitis, discitis and central venous port infection caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was admitted to our hospital. During the course of treatment, the emergence of a daptomycin (DAP)-resistant MRSA strain was confirmed; the minimum inhibitory concentration was 1 to 2 ...
