The main contribution of this article is a new method of segmentation of carotid artery based on original authors inner path finding algorithm and active contours without edges segmentation method for vessels wall detection. Instead of defining new force to being minimized or intensity metric we decide to find optimal weight of image – dependent forces. This allows our method to be easily repro...

In this paper, we propose to enhance the phrase translation model with association measures as new feature functions. These features are estimated on counts of phrase pair co-occurrence and their marginal counts. Four feature functions, namely, Dice coefficient, log-likelihood-ratio, hyper-geometric distribution and link probability are exploited and compared. Experimental results demonstrate t...

This paper presents how word alignment techniques could be used for building standardized term banks. It is shown that time and effort could be saved by a relatively simple evaluation metric based on frequency data from term pairs, and source and target distributions inside the alignment results. The proposed Q-value metric is shown to outperform other tested metrics such as Dice’s coefficient,...

Fully convolutional deep neural networks have been asserted to be fast and precise frameworks with great potential in image segmentation. One of the major challenges in utilizing such networks is data imbalance, which is especially restraining in medical imaging applications such as lesion segmentation where lesion class voxels are often much less than non-lesion voxels. A trained network with ...

PURPOSE There is increasing evidence that epicardial fat (i.e., adipose tissue contained within the pericardium) plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular disease. Obtaining the epicardial fat volume from routinely performed non-enhanced cardiac CT scans is therefore of clinical interest. The purpose of this work is to investigate the feasibility of automatic pericardium segm...

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to develop non-rigid image registration between preprocedure contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) images and intraprocedure unenhanced computed tomographic (CT) images, to enhance tumor visualization and localization during CT imaging-guided liver tumor cryoablation procedures. MATERIALS AND METHODS A non-rigid registration technique was...

This paper presents the results of classifying Arabic text documents using the N-gram frequency statistics technique employing a dissimilarity measure called the “Manhattan distance”, and Dice’s measure of similarity. The Dice measure was used for comparison purposes. Results show that N-gram text classification using the Dice measure outperforms classification using the Manhattan measure.

Introduction Longitudinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis has an important role in multiple sclerosis diagnosis and follow-up. The presence of new T2-w lesions on brain MRI scans is considered a prognostic and predictive biomarker for the disease. In this study, we propose a supervised approach for detecting new T2-w lesions using features from image intensities, subtraction values, a...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Accurate conformal radiotherapy treatment requires manual delineation of target volumes and organs at risk (OAR) that is both time-consuming and subject to large inter-user variability. One solution is atlas-based automatic segmentation (ABAS) where a priori information is used to delineate various organs of interest. The aim of the present study is to establish the accur...
