We develop an efficient spectral-element method for computing the transmission eigenvalues in two-dimensional radially stratified media. Our method is based on a dimension reduction approach which reduces the problem to a sequence of one-dimensional eigenvalue problems that can be efficiently solved by a spectral-element method. We provide an error analysis which shows that the convergence rate...

the sharp upper bounds and the sharp lower bounds of the largest eigenvalues $lambda_1$, the least eigenvalue $lambda_n$, the second largest eigenvalue $lambda_2$, the spread and the separator among all firefly graphs on $n$ vertices are determined.

The eigenvalues of a graph is the root of its characteristic polynomial. A fullerene F is a 3- connected graphs with entirely 12 pentagonal faces and n/2 -10 hexagonal faces, where n is the number of vertices of F. In this paper we investigate the eigenvalues of a class of fullerene graphs.

This study is on the fuzzy eigenvalues and fuzzy eigenfunctions of the Sturm-Liouville fuzzy problem with fuzzy eigenvalue parameter. We find fuzzy eigenvalues and fuzzy eigenfunctions of the problem under the approach of Hukuhara differentiability. We solve an example. We draw the graphics of eigenfunctions. We show that eigenfunctions are valid fuzzy functions or not.

We complete and extend the asymptotic analysis of the spectrum of Jacobi Tau approximations that were first considered by Dubiner. The asymptotic formulas for Jacobi polynomials N P ( , ) , , 1 > − α β α β are derived and confirmed by numerical approximations. More accurate results for the slowest decaying mode are obtained. We explain where the large negative eigenvalues come from. Furthermore...

The Fukui matrix is introduced as the derivative of the one-electron reduced density matrix with respect to a change in the number of electrons under constant external potential. The Fukui matrix extends the Fukui function concept: the diagonal of the Fukui matrix is the Fukui function. Diagonalizing the Fukui matrix gives a set of eigenvectors, the Fukui orbitals, and accompanying eigenvalues....
