The electric dipole moment of a magnetic monopole with spin is studied in the N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theory. Dipole moments of electric charge distributions, as well as dipole moments due to magnetic currents, are calculated. The contribution of the charge distribution of the fermion to the gyroelectric ratio is expressed in terms of ζ(3).

We have carried out the largest search for stable particles with fractional electric charge, based on an oil drop method that incorporates a horizontal electric field and upward air flow. No evidence for such particles was found, giving a 95% C.L. upper limit of 1.15 × 10 particles per nucleon on the abundance of fractional charge particles in silicone oil for 0.18e ≤ |Qresidual| ≤ 0.82e.

Dielectric breakdown of solid insulation has been studied for many years but the mechanisms that cause breakdown have not been fully understood. Charge injection always occurs at high electric fields and especially under dc conditions. The presence of space charge in solid dielectrics will result in distortion of electric field distribution. Dielectric breakdown can be initiated in the region w...

Green function and linear integrals of motion for a charged particle moving in electric field are discussed. Wigner function and tomogram of the ststionary states of the charge are obtained. Connection of quantum propagators for Schrödinger evolution equation, Moyal evolution equation and evolution equation in tomographic probability representation for charge moving in electric field is discussed.

The equilibrium of dense plasma in a gravity field and problem of a gravity-induced electric polarization in this matter are discussed. The calculation for metals performed before shows that both-the gravity-induced compressive strain and the gravity-induced electric field-are inversely proportional to their Young moduli. The calculation for high dense plasma, where Young modulus is equal to ze...

The growth rate and maximum value of electric field inside the thundercloud of finite dimensions are calculated incorporating the effect of positive space charge produced by corona at the ground surface. Our theoretical findings reveal that the transport of corona space charge increases significantly electric dipole moment already existing in thunderclouds of moderate heights and is partly resp...

Nonlinear charge transport in semiconductor superlattices under strong electric fields parallel to the growth direction results in rich dynamical behaviour including the formation of electric field domains, pinning or propagation of domain walls, self-sustained oscillations of the current and chaos. Theories of these effects use reduced descriptions of transport in terms of average charge densi...

We study the charge noise SQ in Josephson qubits produced by fluctuating two-level systems TLSs with electric-dipole moments in the substrate. The TLSs are driven by an alternating electric field of angular frequency and electric field intensity I. It is not widely appreciated that TLS in small qubits can easily be strongly saturated if I Ic, where Ic is the critical electric field intensity. T...

An analytical solution for the distribution of surface charge on a dielectric sphere due to the presence of an external point charge is presented. This solution describes how charge on the surface of the sphere is polarised in the electric field into regions of negative and positive charge. The polarisation effect (distribution of surface charge) generally varies with the separation between the...

With the broad interest in and development of superhydrophobic surfaces for self-cleaning, condensation heat transfer enhancement and anti-icing applications, more detailed insights on droplet interactions on these surfaces have emerged. Specifically, when two droplets coalesce, they can spontaneously jump away from a superhydrophobic surface due to the release of excess surface energy. Here we...
