Senescence of cardiac myocytes is frequently associated with heart diseases. To analyze senescence in cardiac myocytes, a number of biomarkers have been isolated. However, due to the complex nature of senescence, multiple markers are required for a single assay to accurately depict complex physiological changes associated with senescence. In single cells, changes in both cytoplasm and cell memb...

This paper unifies the analytical models used widely but thus far mostly separately for electrical and optical small amplitude perturbation measurements of nanostructured electrochemical dye solar cells (DSC): electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), intensity-modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) and intensity-modulated photovoltage spectroscopy (IMVS). The models are linked by expre...

Over the last century a number of techniques have been developed which allow the measurement of the dielectric properties of biological particles in fluid suspension. The majority of these techniques are limited by the fact that they only provide an average value for the dielectric properties of a collection of particles. More recently, with the advent of microfabrication techniques and the Lab...

Analysis of cancerous cells allows us to provide useful information for the early diagnosis of cancer and to monitor treatment progress. An approach based on electrical principles has recently become an attractive technique. This study presents a microdevice that utilizes a dielectrophoretic impedance measurement method for the identification of cancerous cells. The proposed biochip consists of...

The aim of the work was to study an agar-supported lipid bilayer membrane (s-BLM) by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). S-BLMs with high electrical resistance satisfy the criteria of ease and reproducibility of preparation, long-term stability, and low sensitivity to the electrical and mechanical disturbances, which enables their application in microchip technology. The insertion of ...

PURPOSE Quantification of the heterogeneity of tumor cell populations is of interest for many diagnostic and therapeutic applications, including determining the cancerous stage of tumors. We attempted to differentiate human breast cancer cell lines from different pathologic stages and compare that with a normal human breast tissue cell line by characterizing the impedance properties of each cel...

polymer-clay nanocomposite coatings have attracted much attention because of impressive enhancements of coating properties. in this research, both commercially available and isophoronediamine-modified montmorillonite clays were used to obtain epoxy-clay nanocomposite coatings. these nanocomposite materials with different clay loadings in the form of coatings were applied to cold-rolled steel (c...

We examined in this work the effect of the inter-grains distributions as well as the scaling of the complex impedance in order to analyze its frequency dependance for composite metal-insulator films. The dependance of the characteristic frequencies on the inter-grain distribution is shown for large sample sizes. The impedance spectra become statistically stable above sizes of the order 200x200.

Abstrac t Electroporation or electropermeabilization is a phenomenon observed when lipid bilayers, generally cell membranes, are exposed to high electric field pulses becoming transiently permeable to molecules that under regular conditions are not able to penetrate through them. This change in molecular permeability is believed to be produced by transient aqueous pores created in the lipidic s...

Optically s t imulated deep level impedance spectroscopy (OS-DLZS) is suggested for analysis of electronic transi t ions involving deep-level states in semiconductors with large bandgaps. The technique is based on interpretat ion of both the real and imaginary components of the impedance response measured over a continuous range of electrical frequencies under sub-bandgap il lumination. The app...
