Mixing rules stipulating both concentration and distribution of proteins adsorbed to the liquid-vapor (LV) interphase from multicomponent aqueous solutions are derived from a relatively straightforward protein-adsorption model. Accordingly, proteins compete for space within an interphase separating bulk-vapor and bulk-solution phases on a weight, not molar, concentration basis. This results in ...

By proposing a predictive method with no adjustable parameter and by using infinite dilution activity coefficients of components in binary mixtures obtained from UNIFAC model, the binary interaction parameters (k12) in van der Waals mixing rule (vdWMR) and Orbey-Sandler mixing rule (OSMR) have been evaluated. The predicted binary interaction parameters are used in Peng-Robinson-S...

In this work we compare and contrast proposed techniques and experiments in the subdomain of radiology text classification. In the past, systems have relied on two main approaches: rule-based or natural language processing plus machine learning (NLP/ML). Simple rule-based approaches have demonstrated great efficacy, at the high cost of requiring medical professionals to build and maintain. Comp...

In this paper, a model is proposed for the kernel in the generalized mixing rule recently formulated by Anderssen and Mead (1998). In order to derive such a model, it is necessary to take account of the rheological significance of the kernel in terms of the relaxation behaviour of the individual polymers involved. This leads naturally to consider a way how additional physical effects, which dep...

Ontology-Based Data Access (OBDA) is a recent paradigm aiming at enhancing data access by taking ontological knowledge into account. When using existential rules as ontological language, query answering is an undecidable problem, whence numerous decidable classes of ontologies have been defined, ranging from classes with very good computational complexities (AC0 in data complexity) to classes w...

We present the computation of effective refractive coefficients for inhomogeneous two-component grains with 3 kinds of inclusions with mincl = 3.0 + 4.0i, 2.0 + 1.0i, 2.5 + 0.0001i and a matrix with mm = 1.33 + 0.01i for 11 volume fractions of inclusions from 0% to 50% and wavelengths λ=0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 5.0 μm. The coefficients of extinction for these grains have been computed using a discrete...

We present the computation of effective refractive coefficients for inhomogeneous two-component grains with 3 kinds of inclusions with m incl = 3.0 + 4.0i, 2.0 + 1.0i, 2.5 + 0.0001i and a matrix with m m = 1.33 + 0.01i for 11 volume fractions of inclusions from 0% to 50%. The coefficients of extinction for these grains have been computed using a discrete dipole approximation (DDA). Computation ...

The radiative transitions φ → ηγ and φ → η′γ are analysed using QCD sum-rules. At leading order in perturbative QCD, we obtain the results: B(φ → ηγ) = (1.15 ± 0.2) 10−2 and B(φ → η′γ) = (1.18 ± 0.4) 10−4, in very good agreement with existing experimental data. The related issue of η-η′ mixing is discussed and we give predictions for the η and η′ decay constants in the framework of a mixing sch...

A real-time semiautonomous stereo panning system for music mixing has been implemented. The system uses spectral decomposition, constraint rules, and cross-adaptive algorithms to perform real-time placement of sources in a stereo mix. A subjective evaluation test was devised to evaluate its quality against human panning. It was shown that the automatic panning technique performed better than a ...

We use QCD sum-rules to study the decays φ → ηγ and φ → η′γ, obtaining B(φ → ηγ) = (1.15±0.2) 10−2 and B(φ → η′γ) = (1.18±0.4) 10−4, in very good agreement with existing experimental data. We also discuss the issue of η−η′ mixing, predicting the η and η′ decay constants in a mixing scheme in the quark-flavour basis.
