Lipid compounds are gaining increasing attention due to a wide range of applications in the food industry. Particularly, supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) is being successfully employed as a green solvent in the extraction and fractionation of nonpolar lipids. Knowledge of the solubility of pure lipid-type substances and their mixtures in SCCO2 is essential for evaluating the viability of su...

The Biotic Ligand Model has been previously developed to explain and predict the effects of water chemistry on the toxicity of copper, silver, and cadmium. In this paper, we describe the development and application of a biotic ligand model for zinc (Zn BLM). The data used in the development of the Zn BLM includes acute zinc LC50 data for several aquatic organisms including rainbow trout, fathea...

The main objective of this study was to develop an effective potentiometric saturation titration protocol for determining the aqueous intrinsic solubility and the solubility-pH profile of ionizable molecules, with the specific aim of overcoming incomplete dissolution conditions, while attempting to shorten the data collection time. A modern theory of dissolution kinetics (an extension of the No...

The enzymatic synthesis of amoxicillin is catalyzed by Penicillin G Acylase (PGA). As byproducts, hydroxyphenylglycine and alcohol are also formed from hydrolytic reactions and antibiotic synthesis, respectively. The design of this process should be directed to promote the synthesis reaction. At the same time, it is necessary to reduce the hydrolytic reaction of amoxicillin through its crystall...

The production rate and selectivity of a cross-catalytic peptide network are optimized in a simulated continuous reaction process, under a peptide solubility constraint. The steady state of this open process is not the equilibrium state, and the optimal solution employs diverse cooperative components.

Jet propellant 10, JP-10, is the latest synthetic product in the jet propellant series with several reports on the chemical and the physical properties. This synthetic single molecular fuel with suitable properties similar to Jet propellant 4, has ability to operate on longer distance. This difference leads to more attention at aerospace industries.. According to literatures, they are not m...

Lidocaine, quinidine, and theophylline binding to normal pooled mature human milk was determined using equilibrium dialysis at 4 degrees C. Binding to milk was compared with binding to pooled human serum. The observed binding was related to the relative lipid solubility of each drug in milk. The potential for the excretion of each drug into milk was also evaluated.

Abstract In the present paper, structure as well solubility and thermodynamic data of synthesized Al‐tobermorite is discussed. 29 Si NMR XRD prove successful synthesis an with a ratio Al/(Al + Si) = 0.1. The aluminum incorporated in branching (Q 3 ) sites silicate chains. Solubility can be calculated from measured ionic concentrations storage aqueous solution, which show little variation over t...

Recent studies have suggested that nitric oxide (NO) binding to hemoglobin (Hb) may lead to the inhibition of sickle cell fiber formation and the dissolution of sickle cell fibers. NO can react with Hb in at least 3 ways: 1) formation of Hb(II)NO, 2) formation of methemoglobin, and 3) formation of S-nitrosohemoglobin, through nitrosylation of the beta93 Cys residue. In this study, the role of b...

Hydrocarbons are sparingly soluble in aqueous solvents and to a first approximation their solubility can be described by the traditional Henry’s Law, which linearly relates the mole fraction in water to gas-phase partial pressure. The presence of amines in the aqueous phase increases hydrocarbon solubility over that in water, an effect referred to as “salting-in”. Commercial amine treating solu...
