PURPOSE This study evaluated the sealing ability of different types of restorative-adhesive combinations on deciduous molars in vitro. METHODS Facial and lingual Class V cavities were prepared in 120 primary teeth. They were randomly divided into 8 groups of N= 15, in which different adhesives were used (XE=Xeno III; LP=Adper Prompt L Pop; IB=I Bond; SB=Scotch Bond 1; EP=Etch & Prime 3.0; AS=...
BACKGROUND No specific indications about the pre-treatment of indirect composite restorations is provided by the manufacturers of most self-adhesive resin cements. The potential effect of silane treatment to the bond strength of the complete tooth/indirect restoration complex is not available. The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of different surface treatments on microtensile...
OBJECTIVE Most of current dental adhesive systems show favorable immediate results in terms of retention and sealing of bonded interface, thereby counteracting polymerization shrinkage that affects resin-based restorative materials. Despite immediate efficacy, there are major concerns when dentin bonded interfaces are tested after aging even for short time period, i.e. 6 months. METHODS This ...
The purpose of this study was to determine the elastic modulus of components at the resin-dentin interface with the use of an ultrasound device. Dentin slabs were obtained from freshly extracted bovine incisors shaped into a rectangular form. After demineralization, the dentin specimens were immersed in adhesives and polymerized. Adhesives were also polymerized and trimmed into the same shape a...
Background and Aim: By application of casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) as a remineralizing agent, it may be feasible to only remove the carious dentin and better preserve the tooth structure. This study aimed to assess the shear bond strength of composite to primary enamel treated with CPP-ACP using total-etch and self-etch bonding systems. Materials and Methods: T...
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate in vitro bond strength of metal brackets bonded with: total etch, total etch with erbium: yttrium aluminum garnet laser (Er:YAG) and self-etching adhesive systems, submitted to thermal-mechanical cycling, simulating 1 year of orthodontic treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS For the study, 80 bovine incisors were randomly divided into 3 experimental ...
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the influence of Expasyl® gingival retraction paste on the shear bond strength of self-etch and total-etch adhesive systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-four specimens of extracted, caries-free, sound human molars were used in this study. The molars were then cut vertically into halves through the buccal and lingual cusps. Forty-eight specimens were divided into four gr...
the bond strength of adhesives in irrigated dentin behaves differently over time. the aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of long-term water storage and thermocycling on the microtensile bond strength of adhesive systems to dentin irrigated with endodontic solutions.sixty human molars were used after removal of the occlusal portion and exposure of the dentin by grinding. the specime...
The oxide etch rate of plasma etch tools is estimated from plasma impedance monitoring data. Linear statistical modelling and stepwise regression are used to generate predictions of the mean and range oxide etch rate. The relationship of the mean etch rate to yield is explored for one processing step. Potentials for advanced process control of the etch tools are presented.
