Metacercarial antigen of Fasciola gigantica was evaluated for early immunodiagnosis of experimental bovine fasciolosis using ELISA and Western blot. In ELISA, the experimental F. gigantica infection was detected as early as 2 weeks post-infection (WPI). The gradual increasing trend of antibody level was observed from 2 to 7 WPI, followed by a plateau, which was maintained up to 14 WPI. In Weste...
background: human fascioliasis is an important health problem in the province of gilan, at the caspian sea, iran. there is the overlapping of both fasciolid species, fasciola hepatica and f. gigantica . recent studies on both domestic animal and lymnaeid infection furnished evidence suggesting that f. gigantica and radix gedrosiana may be the main fasciolid and lymnaeid involved in the dise...
A glycoprotein (27 kDa) was isolated from crude somatic antigen of Fasciola gigantica by two steps affinity chromatography and was used in early detection of experimental fasciolosis in cattle by indirect ELISA and in dot-ELISA formats. Although, anti-27 kDa antibodies could be detected after 3 weeks post infection (WPI) by dot - ELISA which was one week later than indirect ELISA. The test, dot...
background: aspartate transaminase (ast) is an important enzyme in parasite and liver tissue. the purpose of this investigation is to evaluate triclabendazole (tcbz) effect on ast activity of fasciola gigantica parasite. to compare of enzyme level of parasite and its host tissue, enzyme activity of f. gigantica parasite and liver tissues were also determined. method: the livers were collected f...
the present study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of developmental stages of fasciola gigantica infection in lymnaea snails and their populations in sylhet region of bangladesh. a total of 1865 lymnaea snails were collected and examined, of which 56 (3%) were found to having infected with developmental stages of fasciola gigantica. only 4.08% infected of 515 snails were collected fr...
fascioliasis is a worldwide parasitic disease in human and domestic animals. the causative agents of fascioliasis are fasciola hepatica and fasciola gigantica. in the recent years, fasciola resistance to drugs has been reported in the many of publications. fasciola spp has detoxification system including gst enzyme which may be responsible for its resistance. therefore , the aim of the study wa...
Background and Objective: Fascioliasis is an important zoonotic disease that causes several health problems and economical losses in different parts of Iran including Zanjan. Fasciola hepatica and F. gigantica are recognized as causative agents of the disease. The differential diagnosis between these two species is very important for planning and control of infection. This study was designed to...
abstract background: fascioliasis, caused by fasciola hepatica and f. gigantica , has medical and economic importance in the world. molecular approaches comparing traditional methods using for identification and characterization of fasciola spp. are precise and reliable. the aims of current study were molecular characterization of fasciola spp. in west azerbaijan province, iran and then compar...
Two cases of aberrant migration by the liver fluke Fasciola gigantica in humans are reported. In both cases, subadult worms emerged through the skin. The identity of the worms was confirmed from their DNA sequences. This uncommon human pathogen might be more likely than F. hepatica to undertake aberrant migrations in humans.
The aim of this study was to identify Fasciola isolates collected from natural livers of livestock by RFLP and sequencing in southwest of Iran. Morphological examination and biologic characters cannot cause a certainty in the accurate and precise identification and intra and inter-specific differences of Fasciola spp. In this study, we identified Fasciola species using 28S marker in isolates fr...
