Emerging chick limb-buds at first grow only in length, not width. The growth parameters of limb mesoderm--cell shapes, distributions, division patterns and cleavage orientations--are incompatible with representations of this tissue as an elongating solid composed of proliferating but immobile cells. We observe that samples of both early limb mesoderm and also surrounding flank mesoderm round up...
The objective of this study was to synthesize several new pregnane derivatives and evaluate them as antiandrogens. From the commercially available 16-dehydropregnenolone acetate (7), two new steroidal compounds were synthesized: 17alpha-hydroxy-17beta-methyl-16beta-phenyl-D-homoandrosta-1,4,6-triene-3,20-dione (18) and 17alpha-acetoxy-17beta-methyl-16beta-phenyl-D-homoandrosta-1,4,6-triene-3,20...
Psoas muscle is a rare location for hydatid disease. Here we present a case of infected hydatid cyst left psoas muscle presenting as left flank pain, fever, local flank tenderness, and raised blood counts. Pre-operative diagnosis was made by Ultrasonography (USG) and Computed Tomography (CT) abdomen, although serology for hydatid disease was negative.
Spontaneous renal artery dissection is a rare but important cause of flank pain. We report a case of isolated spontaneous renal artery dissection in 56-year-old man complicated by renal infarction presented with flank pain. Doppler study pointed towards vascular pathology. Computed tomography (CT) angiography was used to make final diagnosis which demonstrated intimal flap in main renal artery ...
1. It is shown that the mesoderm in the prospective forelimb-bud of the axolotl embryo is thickened and divided into somatic and splanchnic layers, while that of the flank is thinner and divided. The first sign of the limb-bud itself appears at stage 38. 2. A whole, a half or a third of a limb rudiment can develop into a normal or reduplicated limb when transplanted to the flank. 3. An anterior...
Adipose tissue (AT) located in the viscera is considered to be functionally and metabolically different from that found in the subcutaneous depot. However, subcutaneous AT (SAT) in generalized regions is considered to be homogeneous in nature. Affymetrix GeneChip Human Exon 1.0 ST Arrays were used to determine differential gene expression in four subcutaneous adipose depots (upper abdomen, lowe...
