This paper focuses on the analysis and the design of families of interval observers for linear systems with a point-wise delay. First, it is proved that classical interval observers for systems without delays are not robust with respect to the presence of delays, no matter how small delays are. Next, it is shown that, in general, for linear systems with delay, the classical interval observers e...

In this paper we study a traffic intersection with vehicle-actuated traffic signal control. Traffic lights stay green until all lanes within a group are emptied. Assuming general renewal arrival processes, we derive exact limiting distributions of the delays under Heavy Traffic (HT) conditions. Furthermore, we derive the Light Traffic (LT) limit of the mean delays for intersections with Poisson...

This paper proposes three probability models to assess the impact of communication delays and bit errors on differential protection. First, the mechanism of relay protection malfunction caused by communication delays and bit errors is introduced. In general, a channel’s consistent delay or bit error results in refuse-operations, while a channel’s inconsistent delay normally causes false trips. ...

and Applied Analysis 3 global exponential stability and synchronization of delayed reaction-diffusion neural networks under hybrid state feedback control and impulsive control. However, to the authors knowledge, impulsive control has not been considered in the literature to realize synchronization of reaction-diffusion neural networks. Moreover, the impulsive controllers in 3, 9, 36–40 were non...

Production and non-productive equipment and personnel delays are a critical element of any production system. The frequency and length of delays impact heavily on the production and economic efficiency of these systems. Machining processes in wood industry are particularly vulnerable to productive and non-productive delays. Whereas, traditional manufacturing industries usually operate on homoge...

New stability results are presented for Kelly’s algorithm for network traffic control. These are applicable to a broad class of algorithms including most of those previously discussed in the literature. Three types of results are derived; an asymptotic stability result for networks with external disturbances but without time delays, an asymptotic stability result for a class of algorithms with ...

We examine the problem of transmitting in minimum time a given amount of data between a source and a destination in a network with finite channel capacities and non–zero propagation delays. In the absence of delays, the problem has been shown to be solvable in polynomial time. In this paper, we show that the general problem is NP–hard. In addition, we examine transmissions along a single path, ...

This paper presents a survey on the recent contributions to linear time-invariant delaydifferential systems in the behavioral approach. In this survey both systems with commensurate and with incommensurate delays will be considered. The emphasis lies on the investigation of the relationship between various systems descriptions. While this can be understood in a completely algebraic setting for ...

in this paper, a bidirectional associative memory (bam) neural network, which consists of two neurons in the x-layer and three neurons in the y-layer, with two time delays will be studied. we conclude that under some assumptions, hopf bifurcation occurs when the sum of two delays passes through a critical value. a numerical example is presented to support our theoretical results.
