This report discusses some results on differential cross sections for high energy and small momentum transfer elastic hadron-hadron scattering in QCD, using a functional integral approach. In particulary a matrix cumulant expansion for the vacuum expectation values of lightlike Wegner-Wilson loops, which governs the hadronic amplitudes, is presented. The cumulants are evaluated using the model ...

In this paper we complete our calculation of the NLO jet vertex which is part of the cross section formulae for the production of Mueller Navelet jets at hadron hadron colliders and of forward jets in deep inelastic electron proton scattering. PACS. 12.38.Bx ,12.38.Cy,11.55.Jy

This is an introduction to the use of QCD perturbation theory, emphasizing generic features of the theory that enable one to separate short-time and long-time e ects. I also cover some important classes of applications: electron-positron annihilation to hadrons, deeply inelastic scattering, and hard processes in hadron-hadron collisions. Supported by DOE Contract DE-FG03-96ER40969.

We discuss new physical phenomena expected in particle production in hadron–hadron collisions at high energy, as a consequence of Pomeron loop effects in the evolution equations for the Color Glass Condensate. We focus on gluon production in asymmetric, ‘dilute–dense’, collisions : a dilute projectile scatters off a dense hadronic target, whose gluon distribution is highly evolved. This situati...

The prediction from first principles of total cross sections at high energy is one of the oldest open problems of hadronic physics. Present– day experimental data are well described by a universal pomeron–like power–law behaviour (see, for example, Ref. [1] and references therein), σ (hh) tot (s) ∼ s→∞ (s/s0) ǫP , where the so–called soft pomeron intercept is ǫP ≃ 0.08, but this is forbidden as...

We present a program to measure the parton densities in the pomeron using diffractive deep inelastic scattering and diffractive photoproduction, and to test the resulting parton densities by applying them to other processes such as the diffractive production of jets in hadron-hadron collisions. Since QCD factorization has been predicted not to apply to hard diffractive scattering, this program ...

Deep inelastic scattering (DIS), in particular of electrons/muons on protons, constituted one of the first probes of hadron structure. The calculation of QCD-induced scaling violations in the structure functions yielded some of the earliest checks of the quark-gluon theory of hadron interactions, as well as providing the first two loop determinations of the strong coupling constant. Let us set ...

Total cross-sections and logarithmic slopes of the elastic scattering crosssections for different hadronic processes are calculated in the framework of the model of the stochastic vacuum. The relevant parameters of this model, a correlation length and the gluon condensate, are determined from scattering data, and found to be in very good agreement with values coming from completely different so...

We discuss power corrections associated with the infrared behavior of the perturbative running coupling in the eikonal approximation to Drell-Yan and other annihilation cross sections in hadron-hadron scattering. General properties of the eikonal approximation imply that only even powers of the energy scale are necessary.
