BACKGROUND [corrected] Cantharidin, and its derivatives can not only inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells, but can also induce tumor cell apoptosis. It shows cantharidin exhibits a wide range of reactivity in anticancer. The objective of this paper was to study the inhibitory effect of sodium cantharidinate on human hepatoma HepG2 cells. MATERIALS AND METHODS MTT assay was used to detect ...

The relatively recent discovery of microRNAs has added a completely new dimension to the study of the regulation of tumor cells, but how they control cell behavior remains largely elusive. HepG2 cells were assigned to the miR-1301 group and the control group. RT-PCR, Western blotting, wound healing, the Transwell chamber migration and MTT assays, ...

Gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) plays an important role in regulating tumor growth and migration. However, little is known about its role in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. This study explored the effect of GRP on the growth of HCC HepG2 cells and the underlying mechanisms. Expression of GRP and its cognate receptor (GRPR) were detected by immunocytochemisty, reverse transcription-P...

The toxicity of CuO nanoparticles (CuO NPs) to human hepatocarcinoma (HepG2) cells was investigated in this study. CuO NPs (1 40 mg/L) had significant toxicity to HepG2 cells. The antioxidant N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) significantly reduces the cytotoxicity induced by the CuO NPs, supporting the hypothesis that oxidative stress contributes to the cytotoxicity of CuO NPs. To further explore the o...

A multivalent galactosyl carborane derivative 10 (dendritic glyco-borane, DGB) was synthesized and demonstrated as a potential cell-targeting agent in BNCT with HepG2 cells. DGB 10 improved the delivery of boron to HepG2 cells and neutron irradiation data show DGB 10 with ten-fold improvement at killing the HepG2 cells over BSH.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) is one of the major reasons for the failure of liver cancer chemotherapy, and its suppression may increase the efficacy of chemotherapy. NANOG plays a key role in the regulation of embryonic stem cell self-renewal and pluripotency. Recent studies reported that NANOG was abnormally expressed in several types of tumors, indicating that NANOG is related to tumor developm...

BACKGROUND Recent clinical studies have linked polymorphisms in the xeroderma pigmentosum group D (XPD) gene, a key repair gene involved in nucleotide excision repair, to increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the cellular effects of XPD expression in cultured HCC cells remain largely uncharacterized. Therefore, the aim of this study was to characterize the in vitro cellular...

BACKGROUND Since the introduction of the theory of tumour stem cells (TSCs), the liver cancer stem cell (LCSC)-like cells have become one of the focuses in the research on liver cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS.: In this study, CD90(+) cells were applied as the possible LCSC-like cells, and the miRNA and gene expression were analyzed in the CD90(+) HepG2 cells. The pilot study showed miR-548c-5p ...

Introduction Cancer is a disease with a global burden and is a major and increasing threat to public health. The demand for new modalities to treat and prevent cancer is high. Given the toxic side effects of standard treatments, such as chemotherapy, there is greater research interest in naturally derived compounds due to their selective toxicity to cancer cells. This study aimed to test the an...
