Hollow glass microspheres (HGMS) have been widely used in the hydrocarbon industry for cementing wells with low-density slurries. These consist of amorphous siliceous hollow spheres filled gas, providing a material high compressive strength. The present study aims to characterize interaction between HGMS and cement paste, focusing mainly on development pozzolanic activity, given nature silica. ...
Porous Mn₂O₃ microspheres have been synthesized and in-situ coated with amorphous carbon to form hierarchical C@Mn₂O₃ microspheres by first producing MnCO₃ microspheres in solvothermal reactions, and then annealing at 500 °C. The self-assembly growth of MnCO₃ microspheres can generate hollow structures inside each of the particles, which can act as micro-reservoirs to store biomass-glycerol for...
Owing to their unique structural and surface properties, mesoporous microspheres are widely applied in the catalytic field. Generally, increasing the surface area of the specific active phase of the catalyst is a good method, which can achieve a higher catalytic activity through the fabrication of the corresponding catalytic microspheres with the smaller size and hollow structure. However, one ...
A novel, fast and simple method was developed to fabricate poly(acrylic acid sodium salt) microspheres (PAAS MSs). The resulting PAAS MSs were utilized as active templates to universally synthesize the mesoporous lanthanide-doped gadolinium oxide hollow nanospheres with multicolored upconversion emissions under mild conditions.
Multi-shelled Mn2O3 hollow microspheres have been achieved through a pH-regulated method and used as supercapacitor electrodes. The designed unique architecture allows efficient use of pseudo-capacitive Mn2O3 nanomaterials for charge storage with facilitated transport for both ions and electrons, rendering them high specific capacitance, good rate capability, and remarkable cycling performance.
Carbon-iron oxide microspheres' black pigments (CIOMBs) had been prepared via ultrasonic spray pyrolysis of aqueous solutions containing ferrous chloride and glucose. Due to the presence of carbon, CIOMBs not only exhibited remarkably acid resistance, but also could be well dispersed in both polar solvents and nonpolar solvent. Finally, dispersions of hollow CIOMBs in tetrachloroethylene had su...
Here we developed a simple and novel one-step approach to produce G/O/W emulsions with high gas volume fractions in a capillary microfluidic device. The thickness of the oil layer can be controlled easily by tuning the flow rates. We successfully used the G/O/W emulsions to prepared hollow microspheres with thin polymer shells.
The issues of the components a grinding wheel recipe, namely, abrasive grains, bonds and various fillers on cutting forces during are considered in article. following types were studied: fused alumina microspheres, which non-burning hollow filler, glass microspheres used as melting burning filler form crushed fruit pits. On basis obtained experimental data, generalized statistical models depend...
Glucan particles (GPs) are hollow, porous 3-5 μm microspheres derived from the cell walls of Baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). The 1,3-β-glucan outer shell provides for receptor-mediated uptake by phagocytic cells expressing β-glucan receptors. GPs have been used for macrophage-targeted delivery of a wide range of payloads (DNA, siRNA, protein, small molecules, and nanoparticles) encaps...
Triple-shelled ZnFe2O4 hollow microspheres (ZFO) as anode materials for lithium ion battery are prepared through a one-pot hydrothermal reaction using the composite solution consisting of sucrose in water and metal ions in ethylene glycol (EG), followed by different calcination processes. The architectures of ZFO micro spheres are differently synthesized through a mutual cooperation of inward a...
