Salivary immunoglobulin A (IgA) is used as an immunity marker, as saliva can be easily collected, noninvasively with little stress. However, several saliva collection methods can be used. Our comparison between samples collected using different methods demonstrated that the salivary IgA secretion rate in samples collected using an aspiration method was significantly correlated with that in samp...

Immunoglobulin concentrations in tears from 50 healthy Indians aged from 14 to 50 years were measured by a standard immunodiffusion method. The levels of IgA were substantial; those of IgG were very low; and IgD and IgM were not present. The mean IgA level was 24-6 mg/100 ml.

LPS was used to induce switching of B cells to IgG3 and, in the presence of TGF-beta, to IgG2b and IgA. Switching to all three isotypes increased with division number according to a consistent relationship that was independent of time in culture. The mode of activation altered the relationship with division, as CD40 ligand increased switching to IgA and decreased switching to IgG2b and IgG3 whe...

background: the infection in the neonatal period is a significant cause of mortality in the preterm neonates. the transfer of the immunoglobulin from mother to fetus occurs mainly after 32 to 34 weeks of gestation. therefore, preterm neonates are relatively immune compromised. the aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of intravenous immunoglobulin on mortality rates reduction in preterm n...

Background: Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disease, characterized by the presence of antibodies directed to TSH receptor or nearby regions as well as antibodies to double strands DNA (dsDNA) anticardiolipin and nuclear antibodies. This study evaluated anticardiolipin and rheumatoid factor, such as IgA and IgM antibodies in patients with Graves’ disease. Patients and methods: Anticardiolipin a...
