We address the inherent high-field magnetoresistance sMRd of indium antimonide epilayers on GaAs s001d, studying the modification of the MR when processed into a set of geometries. The changes produced by the geometries are quite subtle. The extraordinary MR geometry produces the highest low-field MR while the Corbino geometry produces the largest high-field magnetoresistance. We demonstrate th...

This paper describes a high-efficiency, spectrum-splitting photovoltaic module that uses an off-axis volume holographic lens to focus and disperse incident solar illumination to a rectangular shaped high-bandgap indium gallium phosphide cell surrounded by strips of silicon cells. The holographic lens design allows efficient collection of both direct and diffuse illumination to maximize energy y...

Antibodies with bound metal-chelate haptens provide new means for exploiting the diverse properties of metallic elements. The murine monoclonal antibody CHA255 (IgG1 lambda) binds the metal-chelate hapten indium (III)-4-[N'-(2-hydroxyethyl)thioureido]-L-benzyl-EDTA (designated In-EOTUBE) with high affinity (K(a) = 1.1 x 10(10) M-1). Antibody binding is highly specific for the indium chelate; th...

The wide-bandgap semiconducting material, zinc sulfide, has been coated on indium phosphide nanoclusters to a 1-2-Å thickness. The resulting InP-ZnS core-shell particle (as shown in the TEM image; scale 1 cm=5 nm) exhibits bright luminescence at room temperature with quantum efficiencies as high as 23 %.

Systematic explorations of new phases in the A(I)-In(III)-I(V)-O system by hydrothermal reactions led to five new compounds, namely, AIn(IO(3))(4) (A = Li, Na), Rb(3)In(IO(3))(6) and A(2)HIn(IO(3))(6) (A = Rb, Cs). The structure of AIn(IO(3))(4) (A = Li, Na) contains one-dimensional [In(IO(3))(4)](-) chains separated by Li(+) or Na(+) cations. In both compounds, each In(3+) cation is octahedral...

Because of the strong spin-orbit interaction in indium antimonide, orbital motion and spin are no longer separated. This enables fast manipulation of qubit states by means of microwave electric fields. We report Rabi oscillation frequencies exceeding 100 MHz for spin-orbit qubits in InSb nanowires. Individual qubits can be selectively addressed due to intrinsic differences in their g factors. B...

Results of the investigation of the reactions of GaCl3, InCl3 and InI3 with LiNH2 under solvothermal conditions in benzene, which lead to metal nitrides, are reported. GaN is obtained as a cubic phase or as a mixture of cubic and hexagonal phases, depending on temperature. The effect of the addition of surfactants on the formation of GaN was explored. InN products were always contaminated with ...

This study describes that the current rectification ratio, R ≡ |J|(-2.0 V)/|J|(+2.0 V) for supramolecular tunneling junctions with a top-electrode of eutectic gallium indium (EGaIn) that contains a conductive thin (0.7 nm) supporting outer oxide layer (Ga2O3), increases by up to four orders of magnitude under an applied bias of >+1.0 V up to +2.5 V; these junctions did not change their electric...

Metal-transparent-metallic-oxide (MTMO) grayscale photomasks fabricated by direct laser writing have been proposed in recent years. The fabrication mechanism is attributed to light-induced melt-oxidization. The temporal-spatial distribution of temperature fields of indium film-glass samples under a laser pulse have been calculated by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain method. The laser action ar...

Indium trichloride, benzyl alcohol, and triethylamine (without an added 'directing' multidentate ligand) generate a catalyst in situ for the room temperature polymerization of D,L-lactide affording highly heterotactic polylactide of controlled molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution.
