Ta warstwa rozszerza opisy słowne danej ontologii, definiuje znaczenia leksykalne za pomocą słów występujących w kontekście danego terminu oraz wiąże je z elementami ontologii. Możliwe jest dołączenie znaczeń leksykalnych zdefiniowanych za pomocą znanych zasobów, jak WordNet czy Wikipedia.
