The principal purpose of this work is the simulation of the ship wake in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging based on a facet scattering model. The hydrodynamic model of the surface waves mainly considers the Kelvin wake waves and the wind driven waves. For the prediction of radar returns from the composite surface, the semi-deterministic facet scattering model (SDFSM) is proposed, which is ...

a mathematical model is described and applied for adsorption process of ethyl acetate from supercritical co2 stream on activated carbon particles. this model has the ability of illustrating variation of effluent concentration towards different parameters such as flow rate, temperature and pressure. in this research, a vast area of operational conditions is experienced. mass transfer resistance ...

A Monte Carlo inverse method has been used on the temperature profiles measured down through the Greenland Ice Core Project (GRIP) borehole, at the summit of the Greenland Ice Sheet, and the Dye 3 borehole 865 kilometers farther south. The result is a 50, 000-year-long temperature history at GRIP and a 7000-year history at Dye 3. The Last Glacial Maximum, the Climatic Optimum, the Medieval Warm...

the direct sulfation of three high purity iranian limestones and one precipitated calcium carbonate from different sources, containing more than 97 % caco3, were studied in a specially designed fixed bed reactor under atmospheric pressure, in the presence of excess co2 to prevent decomposition of caco3. experiments were carried out over a range of particle sizes from 1.6-2.5  mm at four tempera...

From the analysis of a set of airborne images of ship wakes, we show that the wake angles decrease as U(-1) at large velocities, in a way similar to the Mach cone for supersonic airplanes. This previously unnoticed Mach-like regime is in contradiction with the celebrated Kelvin prediction of a constant angle of 19.47° independent of the ship's speed. We propose here a model, confirmed by numeri...

context:in this review, we discuss empirical and stoichiometric models, which have been developed recently in ssf processes and the influence of environmental conditions on the variables of these models. additionally, new studies on modeling of product formation are also mentioned. evidence acquisition:solid-state fermentation (ssf) is recognized as a cheap process for producing many valuable p...

We report theoretical and experimental study on Auger decay of excitons in Cu2O in a wide range of temperatures, from 2 Kelvin to 325 Kelvin, in single-photon surface excitation. We find that the Auger constant linearly increases with temperature above 100 Kelvin. This constant is important for experiments on Bose condensation of excitons.

The onset of monami – the synchronous waving of seagrass beds driven by a steady flow – is modelled as a linear instability of the flow. Unlike previous works, our model considers the drag exerted by the grass in establishing the steady flow profile, and in damping out perturbations to it. We find two distinct modes of instability, which we label modes 1 and 2. Mode 1 is closely related to Kelv...

The capillary traction of a liquid contact line causes highly localized deformations in soft solids, tremendously slowing down wetting and dewetting dynamics by viscoelastic braking. Enforcing nonetheless large velocities leads to the so-called stick-slip instability, during which periodically depins from its own ridge. mechanism this periodic motion and, especially, role fluid have remained el...

introduction: nano-indentation has recently been employed as a powerful tool for determining the mechanical properties of biological tissues on nano and micro scales. a majority of soft biological tissues such as ligaments and tendons exhibit viscoelastic or time-dependent behaviors. the constitutive characterization of soft tissues is among very important subjects in clinical medicine and espe...
