Five rare earth complexeslanthanum(III),praseodymium(III),neodymium(III), samarium(III) and europium(III) have been synthesized from Schiff base ligand (N,N-bis (2-hydroxy-1-naphthylidene) acetylhydrazone). The complexes were characterized based on elemental analysis, molar conductance, ultraviolet, infrared, mass, thermogravimetric and powder X-ray diffraction studies. Infrared spectra sug...
Discussions of therapeutic suppression of hedgehog (Hh) signaling almost exclusively focus on receptor antagonism; however, hedgehog's biosynthesis represents a unique and potentially targetable aspect of this oncogenic signaling pathway. Here, we review a key biosynthetic step called cholesterolysis from the perspectives of structure/function and small molecule inhibition. Cholesterolysis, als...
The photo-excitation and relaxation of a new cyclometalated complex, Ir(ppy)2fppy, is investigated through the measurement of absorption and photoluminescence spectra. Comparison of Ir(ppy)2fppy with Ir(ppy)3 reveals that the lowest energy excited state of Ir(ppy)2fppy is localised on the aldehyde-substituted ligand, thus giving the complex its characteristic orange emission (lmax # 600 nm). OL...
Due to the active role of estrogen receptor α (ERα) in certain breast cancer, finding possible ERα antagonists is important for lowering growth rate ERα-motivated cancer cells. Here, current work was conducted computationally find inhibitors based on use docking methods. The three-dimensional (3D)-ERα structure freely docked with 3D ligands, including milbemycin_A3_5-oxime (MA), Baloxavir marbo...
Silica nanoparticles with hyaluronic acid (HA) and folic (FA) were developed to study dual-ligand targeting of CD44 folate receptors, respectively, in colon cancer. Characterization particles dynamic light scattering showed them have hydrodynamic diameters 147–271 nm moderate polydispersity index (PDI) values. Surface modification the was achieved by simultaneous reaction HA FA results that lig...
High-valent iron species are known to act as powerful oxidants in both natural and synthetic systems. While biological enzymes have evolved to prevent self-oxidation by these highly reactive species, development of organic ligand frameworks that are capable of supporting a high-valent iron center remains a challenge in synthetic chemistry. We describe here the reactivity of an Fe(II) complex th...
macrocyclic heterobinuclear zn(ii)–cu(ii) complexes with phenol based dicompartmental ligands possessing contiguous hexa- and penta-coordination sites were prepared by a stepwise procedure. the ligands include similar n4o2 and dissimilar n(imine)3o2 and n(amine)3o2 coordination sites sharing two phenolic oxygen atoms. the six-coordination site comprises two pyridyl pendant arms on the amine nit...
Rational modification of a natural RNA-binding peptide with a lanthanide EDTA chelator, and a phenanthroline ligand yields a highly selective luminescent sensor. The sensing mechanism relies on the RNA-triggered folding of the peptide into a β-hairpin, which promotes the coordination of the phenanthroline sensitizer, and the efficient sensitization of complexed lanthanide ions.
The [Mn(4)(IV)O(5)(terpy)(4)(H(2)O)(2)](6+) complex shows great potential for electrode modification by electropolymerization using cyclic voltammetry. The electropolymerization mechanism was based on the electron transfer between dx(2)-y(2) orbitals of the metallic center and pπ orbital of the ligand.
This paper illustrates the use of a kinetically controlled exchange reaction to effect regioselective modification of a hydrogen-bonded assembly. Both the bound anion and cation can control the exchange of ligand into the different layers of a synthetic G-quadruplex.
