Recently an important and interesting nonlinear generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) detector emerged in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data processing. However, the study of that detector is incomplete: the probability density function (pdf) of the test statistic was draw from numerical simulations without much theoretical support and is therefore, not firmly grounded. This corresp...

Detection of stationary targets in urban sensing and through-the-wall radar images using likelihood ratio test (LRT) detectors has recently been considered in the literature. A shortcoming of the LRT detectors is that appropriate probability density functions of target and clutter images need to be predefined. In most practical scenarios, this information is not available a priori, and the mism...

We consider the problem of detecting anisotropic scattering of targets from wideband SAR measurements. We rst develop a scattering model for the response of an ideal dihedral when interrogated by a wideband radar. We formulate a stochastic detection problem based on this model and Gaussian clutter models. We investigate the performance of three detectors, the conventional imaging detector, a ge...

We propose to improve the performance of a generalized coherence (GC) detector using noise-suppressed estimates obtained from time varying (TV) techniques. In source detection and localization, the presence of a common but unknown signal must be detected using data from several noisy channels. If one of the channel outputs has a sufficiently high SNR, then it could be pre-processed to improve d...

Finite delay breadth-first equalizer for inter-symbol interference (ISI) channels is presented. Based on the maximum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) criterion, optimal structures for all breadth-first equalizers are found. Recursive algorithms for the Ungerboeck and the Forney structures are developed, which are parallel to the structures of the well-known maximum likelihood sequence detector (MLSD).

b a c k g r oun d & aim: berg balance scale (bbs) is one of the most applied tests to identify high-risk elderly people for fall. fall is a common health problem among community senior citizens. a diag- nostic test to identify high-risk elderly people can prevent or alleviate falls. the purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of bbs to predict falls among elderly community dwellers....
