Three German Shepherd Dogs that were presented for investigation of chronic unilateral hindlimb lameness and pain in the lumbosacral region were diagnosed with an intraspinal, extradural synovial cyst and reactive fibrosis protruding into the foramen of the lumbosacral articulation using magnetic resonance imaging and histology. This extradural mass compressed the nerve root in the foramen and ...

Compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve and its branches, the common fibular and tibial nerves, causes sciatica which is a common syndrome characterized most often by radiating pain from the lower back down the legs and also manifesting as sensory and motor deficits. Sciatica is a common presentation of lumbosacral disc prolapse and degenerative disease of the lumbar spine in ambulatory ...

We present a case of 24-year-old male presented with low back pain radiating to the left lower limb, tingling numbness and weakness of 6 months duration. Magnetic resonance imaging scan with contrast reveals an extradural mass at lumbosacral region. Patient was operated with laminectomy and complete excision of the lesion was done. Patient's radicular pain relieved following the surgery and wea...

Background and Importance: Conus medullaris dermoid cysts are benign lesions, usually observed in the lumbosacral region of the spinal canal. Such lesions are often associated with congenital dermal sinus tracts and spinal dysraphism. Case Presentation: We reported a 37-year-old man with progressive paralysis in left lower limb distal presented to our clinic. The MRI of the lumbar spine, as...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of lumbosacral radiculography using 3-dimentional (3D) magnetic resonance (MR) rendering for diagnostic information of symptomatic extraforaminal stenosis in lumbosacral transitional vertebra. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study population consisted of 18 patients with symptomatic (n = 10) and asymptomatic extraforaminal stenosis (n = 8) in lumbosacral transition...

Lumbosacral perineural cysts are formed by the arachnoid membrane of the nerve root at the lumbosacral level. Most of these cysts are asymptomatic and are found incidentally during computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for other causes of chronic lower back pain. This type of cyst requires a differential diagnosis to distinguish it from other causes of radiating pain and ...

Introduction: To examine the hypothesis that diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) in lumbosacral region could reveal sciatic nerve course swelling that lead to lower extremity pain. The aim of present article was to find and evaluate the diffusion weighted coefficients (b-values) for scrutinizing sciatic nerve tract changes in lumbosacral region. Materials and methods: Lumbar area was imaged in 30...
