Oocyte maturation is a key issue of current animal biotechnology. This study was designed to examine the morphodynamics of the cumulus-oocyte association during oocyte maturation. Porcine cumulus-oocyte complexes were recovered from slaughterhouse ovaries; matured in vitro for 0, 24, 36, and 44 h; and evaluated by scanning electron microscopy either combined or not combined with the osmium-dime...

The Bratteli diagram is an infinite graph which reflects the structure of projections in a C∗-algebra. We prove that every strictly ergodic unimodular Bratteli diagram of rank 2g + m − 1 gives rise to a minimal geodesic lamination with the m-component principal region on a surface of genus g ≥ 1. The proof is based on the Morse theory of the recurrent geodesics on the hyperbolic surfaces.

We study the convergence of a discretized Fourier orthogonal expansion in orthogonal polynomials on B× [−1, 1], where B is the closed unit disk in R. The discretized expansion uses a finite set of Radon projections and provides an algorithm for reconstructing three dimensional images in computed tomography. The Lebesgue constant is shown to be m (log(m + 1)), and convergence is established for ...

In this paper we prove that if a Grassmann space Δ = GrA(m,h,K) of the h–subspaces of an affine space A = AG(m,K) has an embedding e into a projective space PG(n,K′) over a skew–field K′, and e satisfies two suitable conditions (α) and (β), then K and K′ are isomorphic fields and Δ is, up to projections, an affine Grassmannian. It is well known that saturation of ideals is closely related to the “antichain-catching” phenomenon from Foreman-Magidor-Shelah [10]. We consider several antichain-catching properties that are weaker than saturation, and prove: (1) If I is a normal ideal on ω2 which satisfies stationary antichain catching, then there is an inner model with a Woodin cardinal; (2) For any n ∈ ω, it is consistent...

A closed subspace M in a Banach space X is called t/-proximinal if it satisfies: (1 + p)S n (S + M) ç S + e(pXS n M), for some positive valued function t(p), p > 0, and e(p) -» 0 as p -> 0, where 5 is the closed unit ball of X. One of the important properties of this class of subspaces is that the metric projections are continuous. We show that many interesting subspaces are (/-proximinal, for ...

Abstract. Global mean sea level rise and its acceleration are projected to aggravate coastal erosion over the 21st century, which constitutes a major challenge for adaptation. Projections of shoreline retreat highly uncertain, however, namely due deeply uncertain projections absence consensus on impact model. An improved understanding better quantification these sources deep uncertainty hence r...

We construct some separable infinite dimensional homogeneous Hilbertian operator spaces H ∞ and H m,L ∞ , which generalize the row and column spaces R and C (the case m = 0). We show that separable infinitedimensional Hilbertian JC∗-triples are completely isometric to an element of the set of (infinite) intersections of these spaces . This set includes the operator spaces R, C, R ∩ C, and the s...

The complex topography and high climatic variability of the North Western Mediterranean Basin (NWMB) require a detailed assessment of climate change projections at high resolution. ECHAM5/MPIOM global climate projections for mid-21st century and three different emission scenarios are downscaled at 10 km resolution over the NWMB, using the WRF-ARW regional model. High resolution improves the spa...
