Many instruments can be used to measure radio frequency (RF) and microwave power. The most accurate one is a power sensor with a meter. The accuracy of RF and microwave power measurement depends on the accuracy of power sensor calibration. This chapter provides calibration methods of RF and microwave power sensor with system setup, modeling, equations, and analyses in different representations,...

In this work we demonstrate for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, a continuously tunable 360 degrees microwave phase shifter spanning a microwave bandwidth of several tens of GHz (up to 40 GHz). The proposed device exploits the phenomenon of coherent population oscillations, enhanced by optical filtering, in combination with a regeneration stage realized by four-wave mixing effects....

In this paper, a novel arrangement for dual-band millimeter-wave and infrared focal plane array based on slot-antennacoupled metal-oxide-metal diodes is demonstrated. The receiving properties for millimeter-wave and infrared antenna-coupled detector pixels are presented. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper describes modeling and analyzing procedures for microstrip filters based on use of one-dimensional wave digital approach. Different filter structures are observed. One filter is based on quarter-wave length short-circuited stubs and connecting transmission lines. The other one is based on cross-junction opened stubs. Frequency responses are obtained by direct analysis of the block-ba...

A short microwave pulse is used to ionize a lithium Rydberg wave packet launched from the core at a well-defined phase of the field. We observe a strong dependence on the relative phase between the motion of the wave packet and the oscillations of the field. This phase dependent ionization is also studied as a function of the relative frequency. Our experimental observations are in good qualita...

Microwaves can penetrate many obstructions that are opaque at visible wavelengths, however microwave imaging is challenging due to resolution limits associated with relatively small apertures and unrecoverable "stealth" regions due to the specularity of most objects at microwave frequencies. We demonstrate a multispectral time-of-flight microwave imaging system which overcomes these challenges ...

We study the pattern of three-state topological phases that appears in systems with real Hamiltonians and wave functions. We give a simple geometric construction for representing these phases. We then apply our results to understand previous work on three-state phases. We show that the "mirror symmetry" of wave functions noticed in microwave experiments can be simply understood in our framework.

A seven-port wave-correlator based vector network analyzer is proposed. The seven-port wave-correlator is a combination of two six-port wave-correlators which share common components. Furthermore, the complex wave ratio measurement accuracy is improved since the input signals can be directly detected by the side-arm ports. A seven-port wave-correlator is fabricated using microstrip branch line ...

We demonstrate a detection method for microwave spectroscopy on magnetization reversal dynamics of nanomagnets. Measurement of the nanomagnet anisotropic magnetoresistance was used for probing how magnetization reversal is resonantly enhanced by microwave magnetic fields. We used Co strips of 2 μm × 130 nm × 40 nm, and microwave fields were applied via an on-chip coplanar wave guide. The method...

We have investigated spin-wave excitations in rolled-up Permalloy microtubes using microwave absorption spectroscopy. We find a series of quantized azimuthal modes which arise from the constructive interference of Damon-Eshbach-type spin waves propagating around the circumference of the microtubes, forming a spin-wave resonator. The mode spectrum can be tailored by the tube's radius and number ...
