In this study, the problem of unsupervised extraction of drainage network from elevation data is addressed. A self-adaptive system and its application to the problem are described. The popularity of Geographic Information Systems and the availability of many high-resolution elevation data sets have increased many uses of elevation data. One of the more challenging and yet useful applications is...

geomorphic indexes are useful tools in identification of evaluation in trace of tectonic activity (relatively rapid or even slow). since the drainage network morphology and behavior changes resulting from tectonic activity are very sensitive it seems to be evidence such as crossing the fault line and changes river bed affected by the neotectonic activities in basin. thus, for understanding and ...

large impervious surfaces and man-made waterways are the characteristic of urban area. increasing urbanization and rapid growth of cities in recent decades towards the upstream watershed, has been severely affected on rainfall-runoff processes in urban area. therefore, to computer models in order to illustrate these processes the proper design or assessment of urban drainage systems has special...

One of the most important features topographic maps is stream network. Its accurate representation essential for several applications. This work evaluates quality network Brazil and Portugal's official maps. These were produced using different scales (1:10,000, 1:25,000, 1:50,000) methods (photo interpretation automatic drainage extraction). The intention this analysis to focus on data analysis...

We consider the two dimensional version of a drainage network model introduced by Gangopadhyay, Roy and Sarkar, and show that the appropriately rescaled family of its paths converges in distribution to the Brownian web. We do so by verifying the convergence criteria proposed by Fontes, Isopi, Newman and Ravishankar.

Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis in urban catchments is typically accompanied by a number of uncertainties, such as a lack of required information for modeling purposes or complex loops inside a drainage network. In this article, Gibbs’ stochastic network model is utilized in order to achieve a dendritic network that corresponds to a fully looped network in terms of the peak of the runoff hydr...

Development of pore network models for real porous media requires a detailed understanding of physical processes occurring on the microscopic scale and a complete description of porous media morphology. In this study, the microstructure of porous media has been represented by three dimensional networks of interconnected pores and throats which are designed by an object oriented approach. Af...
