This paper presents a method to compute Mean and Gaussian curvatures from range images. The rst and second partial derivatives are estimated by the weighted least squares t of a biquadratic polynomial within a local moving window. The weights are determined on the basis of surface distances and normal angular distances from the center points of the window.

In many real-time resource-constrained embedded systems, highly-predictable system behavior is a key design requirement. The “time-triggered co-operative” (TTC) scheduling algorithm provides a good match for a wide range of low-cost embedded applications. As a consequence of the resource, timing, and power constraints, the implementation of such algorithm is often far from trivial. Thus, basic ...

This extended abstract details a submission to the Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange in the Audio Beat tracking task. The basic idea is based on the algorithm which submitted by Daniel P.W. Ellis in MIREX 2006. We consider about the energy of beats in order to approximate the human auditory system and improve tracking accuracy. I. BEAT TRACKING WITH A MOVING WINDOW In MIREX 2009, ...

A multi-scale, moving-window method for local thresholding based on Robust Automatic Threshold Selection (RATS) is developed. Using a model for the noise response of the optimal edge detector in this context, the reliability of thresholds computed at di erent scales is determined. The threshold computed at the smallest scale at which the reliability is su cient is used. The performance on 2-D i...

The widespread use of sensor networks presents revolutionary opportunities for life and environmental science applications. Many of these applications involve continuous queries that require the tracking, monitoring, and correlation of multi-sensor data that represent moving objects. We propose to answer these queries using a multi-way stream window join operator. This form of join over multise...

Cooperative multicast is an effective solution to address the bottleneck problem of single-hop broadcast in wireless networks. By incorporating with the random linear network coding technique, the existing schemes can reduce the retransmission overhead significantly. However, the receivers may incur large decoding delay and complexity due to the batch decoding scheme. In addition, the dependenc...

A window server used in real-time applications should be able to assure previously agreed-upon redrawing rates for a subset of windows while providing best-effort services to the remaining windows and operations such as moving windows. A window server used in embedded systems should be small and require only minimal operating system support, for example just threads and address spaces as provid...

Dual-filter estimators are described and tested for use in the annual estimation for national forest inventories. The dual-filter approach involves the use of a moving widow estimator in the first pass, which is used as input to Theil’s mixed estimator in the second pass. The moving window and dual-filter estimators are tested along with two other estimators in a sampling simulation of 152 simu...
