Nanoconfinement and the use of catalysts are promising strategies to enhance the reversibility of hydrogen storage in light metal hydrides. We combined nanoconfinement of LiBH4 in nanoporous carbon with the addition of Ni. Samples were prepared by deposition of 5-6 nm Ni nanoparticles inside the porous carbon, followed by melt infiltration with LiBH4. The Ni addition has only a slight influence...
In this paper, we describe the creation of a moderate band gap Nd-substituted Ni-Zn ferrite as nano photo catalyst via simple and cost-effective process solution combustion. Nd substitution alters crystallite size, shape, gap, magnetic characteristics significantly. Investigations using X-ray diffraction revealed that all samples display pure phase. The average size was determined to be between...
Doping of carbon nanoparticles with impurity atoms is central to their application. However, doping has proven elusive for very small carbon nanoparticles because of their limited availability and a lack of fundamental understanding of impurity stability in such nanostructures. Here, we show that isolated diamond nanoparticles as small as 1.6 nm, comprising only ∼400 carbon atoms, are capable o...
We are presenting our recent research results about the Ni-NiO nanoparticles on poly-(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)-modified graphene sheet (Ni-NiO/PDDA-G) nanocomposites prepared by the hydrothermal method at 90°C for 24 h. The Ni-NiO nanoparticles on PDDA-modified graphene sheets are measured by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and select...
Monodisperse, size-controlled Ni-P nanoparticles were synthesised in a single step process using triphenyl-phosphane (TPP), oleylamine (OA), and Ni(II)acetyl-acetonate. The nanoparticles were amorphous, contained ~30 at% P and their size was controlled between 7-21 nm simply by varying the amount of TPP. They are catalytically active for tailored carbon nanotube growth.
The highly dispersed Ni nanoparticles in mesoporous silica were achieved via using polyol as new delivery conveyors and removable carbon templates. The catalyst exhibits excellent coking- and sintering-resistance in dry reforming of methane attributed to the controlled size and location of Ni nanoparticles.
bioleaching of spent refinery processing catalysts using adapted indigenous strains ofacidithiobacillus ferrooxidans to recover ni and mo, and the separation of ni from bioleaching liquor usingiron magnetic nanoparticles were optimized in this study. bioleaching optimization was performed usingcentral composite design (ccd) method to optimize temperature (32 to 38oc), initial ph (1.5 to 2), par...
Ordering and segregation properties of Fe–Ni alloys and nanoalloys are investigated by means of Metropolis Monte Carlo (MMC) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The model is based on an embedded atom potential which, according to thermodynamic integration, only stabilizes those phases that are observed experimentally. This stability is confirmed by MMC and the same phases are found stable ...
We report investigation on properties of multiwall carbon nanotubes (mCNTs) containing Ni residuals before and after encapsulation of zinc ferrite nanoparticles. The pristine tubes exhibit metallic character with a 0.3 eV reduction in the work function along with ferromagnetic behavior which is attributed to the Ni residuals incorporated during the preparation of tubes. Upon encapsulation of zi...
