For large and complex reacting systems, computational efficiency becomes a critical issue in process simulation, optimization and model-based control. Mechanism simplification is often a necessity to improve computational speed. We present a novel approach to simplification of reaction networks that formulates the model reduction problem as an optimization problem and solves it using geneti...
1 The " convex " KKT theorem: a recapitulation We recall the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker theorem for convex programming, as treated in the previous lecture (see Corollary 3.5 of [OSC]).
This paper summarizes as a working paperbasic facts in both nite and in nite dimensional optimization in view of optimality conditions and stability of solutions to perturbed problems. Begining with section 4, partially new and unpublished results are included, elaborated in joint work with D. Klatte, Univ. Zuerich.
3β-O-phthalic ester of betulinic acid is of great importance in anticancer studies. However, the optimization of its reaction conditions requires a large number of experimental works. To simplify the number of times of optimization in experimental works, here, we use artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector machine (SVM) models for the prediction of yields of 3β-O-phthalic ester of be...
Response surface methodology is a widely used technique for modelling and optimization of the photocatalytic treatment processes of water and wastewater. This methodology not only estimates linear, interaction and quadratic effects of the factors on the response, but also provides a prediction model for the response at the range of the variables studied and the optimum conditions to achieve the...
A mathematical model for the enzymatic kinetics of the synthesis of (R)–(+)–3,4-dihydroxyphenyllactic acid (DHPL) was developed. The synthesis was catalyzed by D-lactate dehydrogenase from Lactobacillus leishmannii. Since this enzyme requires NADH as a coenzyme, formate dehydrogenase system was used for NADH regeneration. Kinetic constants of both enzymes were estimated independently from initi...
We describe the effect of pH and NaCl concentration on the activation of factor X in plasma by Russell's viper venom and on the amidolytic activity of the activated enzyme towards factor Xa-sensitive chromogenic substrates. An increasing NaCl concentration results in a decrease in the activation rate of factor X by Russell's viper venom, whereas in this step no pH effect is observed. Increasing...
