Let K be a closed subset of a smooth manifold M, and let f : K ! K be a continuous self-map of K. We say that f is smoothable if it is conjugate to the restriction of a smooth map by a homeomorphism of the ambient space M. We give a necessary condition for the smoothability of the faithfully innnitely interval-renormalizable homeomorphisms of Cantor sets in the unit interval. This class contain...

Let a be the topological graph shaped like the letter o . We denote by 0 the unique branching point of a , and by O and I the closures of the components of a \ {0} homeomorphics to the circle and the interval, respectively. A continuous map from a into itself satisfying that / has a fixed point in O, or / has a fixed point and /(0) € I is called a a map. These are the continuous self-maps of a ...

Studies of the production of orbitally excited charmed and charmed strange mesons in eecollisions, performed by the LEP collaborations are reviewed. Measurements of the production rates of orbitally excited charmed mesons in semileptonic b decays are presented. Searches for charmed meson radial excitations are also briefly discussed.

We consider examples of discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations in Z admitting ground states which are orbitally but not asymptotically stable in l(Z). The ground states contain internal modes which decouple from the continuous modes. The absence of leaking of energy from discrete to continues modes leads to an almost conservation and perpetual oscillation of the discrete modes. This is quite ...

We call a continuous self-map that reveals itself through a discrete set of point-value pairs a sampled dynamical system. Capturing the available information with chain maps on Delaunay complexes, we use persistent homology to quantify the evidence of recurrent behavior, and to recover the eigenspaces of the endomorphism on homology induced by the self-map. The chain maps are constructed using ...
