The binding energy and electronic coupling of perylenediimide (PDI) pi-stacked dimers were calculated using M06-2X/6-31++G** as a function of stacking geometry. Due to shallow minima in the potential energy surface, electronic coupling can vary by over an order of magnitude among energetically accessible geometries. The coupling was then determined for 20 PDI derivatives with various substituti...

Phosphate (Pi) homeostasis is under control of several endocrine factors that play effects on bone, kidney and intestine. The control of Pi homeostasis has a significant biological importance, as it relates to numerous cellular mechanisms involved in energy metabolism, cell signaling, nucleic acid synthesis, membrane function, as well as skeletal health and integrity. Pi is essential for divers...

Osteoclasts possess inorganic phosphate (Pi) transport systems to take up external Pi during bone resorption. In the present study, we characterized Pi transport in mouse osteoclast-like cells that were obtained by differentiation of macrophage RAW264.7 cells with receptor activator of NF-kappaB ligand (RANKL). In undifferentiated RAW264.7 cells, Pi transport into the cells was Na+ dependent, b...

Absorption spectra for 2,3-diaryl-2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane radical cations (2(X)(*+)) and for their monoaryl analogues 2-tert-butyl-3-aryl-2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane radical cations (1(X)(*+)) having para chloro, bromo, iodo, cyano, phenyl, and nitro substituents are reported and compared with those for the previously reported 1- and 2(H)(*+) and 1- and 2(OMe)(*+). The calculated geomet...

Through comparison with ab initio reference data, we have evaluated the performance of various density functionals for describing pi-pi interactions as a function of the geometry between two stacked benzenes or benzene analogs, between two stacked DNA bases, and between two stacked Watson-Crick pairs. Our main purpose is to find a robust and computationally efficient density functional to be us...

In this study, we build up the double-dynamic models of variable speed wind power systems and design a new type Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) PI-NN controller to improve the precision of the Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) tracking based on the models. Moreover, the effect of the PI-NN controller and the PILQG controller are compared based on Matlab/simulation and the results show that precision of...

In this study, novel thermally stable zirconia-containing polyimides (PI/ZrO2) with excellent optical properties have been prepared successfully. The obtained flexible PI/ZrO2 hybrid films revealed excellent optical transparency, a tunable refractive index and an Abbe number up to 1.804 and 32.18, respectively, which are crucial for optical devices. In addition, the PI/ZrO2 hybrid films also ex...

ABSTRACTRenewable Energy Sources (RES) are well – defined as energy sources, that are in abundance within the natural surroundings and are much inexhaustible. In addition, hydroelectricity (HE) is a vital part of world renewable energy supply and hydropower remains a bulk source of electricity generation because of its environmental friendliness in nature. Modeling is the analysis of the ...

We report K/pi fluctuations from Au + Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]= 19.6, 62.4, 130, and 200 GeV using the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. K/pi fluctuations in central collisions show little dependence on incident energy and are on the same order as those from NA49 at the Super Proton Synchrotron in central Pb + Pb collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=12.3 and 17.3 GeV. We report res...
