Pyrophosphate analogues are of great importance especially for the design of biologically active molecules. The phospha-Claisen condensation allows for the rapid synthesis of (phosphonomethyl)phosphinate pyrophosphate analogues and building blocks that can be employed in numerous applications.
Current techniques for diagnosing perioperative myocardial infarction were studied in 58 patients who underwent coronary bypass surgery. All patients had preoperative and postoperative ECGs and technetium-99m stannous pyrophosphate myocardial scintigrams; serum CK-MB was measured immediately after surgery and daily for 3 days. Postoperative bypass graft visualization and left ventriculography w...
OBJECTIVES This study investigated the effects of melatonin, famotidine, mirtazapine, and thiamine pyrophosphate on ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in diabetic rats and evaluated oxidant and antioxidant marker measurement results. It also examined the effects of the drugs aimed at preventing infertility that may result from I/R injury. MATERIALS AND METHODS Diabetic rats were divided into a...
Upon incubation of UDP-N-acetyl[14C]glucosamine and GDP-mannose with rough microsomes from rat liver, GlcNAc incorporation occurred mostly into acid-labile products extractable by chloroform/methanol that were presumed to be dolichol pyrophosphate GlcNAc and, for a small part, dolichol pyrophosphate N,N'-diacetylchitobiose. The production of this latter glycolipid was greatly enhanced when roug...
Comparatively little attention has been given to the pyro and almost none to the meta form of phosphate in plant and animal studies. Since reporting the occurrence of pyrophosphate in muscle in 1928, LOHMANN (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) has conducted a number of experiments on the occurrence and transformation of pyrophosphate in animal tissue. He also made a few similar studies with yeast and p...
INTRODUCTION Calcium pyrophosphate crystal deposition disease (CPPD) is the most common form of crystal arthropathy second only to gout. Common clinical presentation is an acute monoarticular arthritis commonly occurring in knee joints. We presented a case of bilateral olecranon bursitis in a calcium pyrophosphate crystal deposition disease. CASE REPORT A 42-year-old female patient is present...
6-Fluoromevalonate blocks the incorporation of mevalonic acid, but not that of isopentenyl pyrophosphate, into non-saponifiable lipids in a rat liver multienzyme system. With 3H-labelled 6-fluoromevalonate, it was found that 6-fluoromevalonate is converted to its phospho and pyrophospho derivatives in this system. The kinetics of the two kinases were studied. 6-Fluoromevalonate 5-pyrophosphate ...
Tris[bis(triphenylphosphoranylidene)ammonium] pyrophosphate (PPN pyrophosphate) was used in the SN2 displacements of the tosylate ion from 5'-tosylnucleosides to afford nucleoside-5'-diphosphates. Selective precipitation permitted the direct isolation of nucleoside-5'-diphosphates from crude reaction mixtures.
Direct detection of pyrophosphate (PPi) in aqueous solution is demonstrated using a cationic poly(phenylene-ethynylene) with polyamine side chains. Pyrophosphate-induced polymer aggregation causes a significant spectroscopic change, which in turn allows quantification of dissolved PPi using ratiometric signals.
