C[E] := {a : (an)n∈N is a Cauchy sequence in (E, d)} . You should think of C[E] as a new space where each point a ∈ C[E] is a Cauchy sequence a = (an)n∈N from (E, d). Note that for each x ∈ E, we can define x ∈ C[E] by letting xn = x for all n ∈ N. This gives us a way to think of C[E] as containing our original space E, which we will make more precise in Section 3. For a, b ∈ C[E] we define D(a...

We present a streamlined axiom system of special relativity in first-order logic. From this axiom system we “derive” an axiom system of general relativity in two natural steps. We will also see how the axioms of special relativity transform into those of general relativity. This way we hope to make general relativity more accessible for the non-specialist.

  Background and aims   Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is known as a health threat. In Iran CVD is the first leading cause of death. The more prevalence of cardiovascular risks factor leads to the higher prevalence of CVD. Previous studies revealed CVD prevention depends on healthy lifestyle. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors among occupational po...

Could there be an æther after all and we have just not yet noticed it? By an “æther” of course we do not mean to suggest a mechanical medium whose deformations correspond to electromagnetic fields, but rather a locally preferred state of rest at each point of spacetime, determined by some hitherto unknown physics. Such a frame would not be determined by a circumstance such as the moon’s gravita...

A finite time-slice computational method has been developed to describe the effects of gravity on light rays passing close to the Sun by employing a theoretical approach introduced by L. Schiff in 1960. One of the key assumptions in the latter study is that each local observer finds a given light ray to travel along the same straight line with the same constant speed c. It is concluded that the...
