We evaluated the distribution of ABO and Rhesus (Rh) D blood groups in the population of Poonch district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The blood group phenotypes were detected by the classic slide method. The ABO blood group system in the total sample showed the same trend of prevalence as for the general Indian subcontinent (B > or = O > A > AB). The same trend was found among males, but among fe...

A study of ABO blood group and Rh (D) factor, was carried out on 10478 cases. ‘0’ had the highest (35.13%) and blood group ‘AB’ the lowest (8.23%) frequency.Blood group 24.71% and 31.93%respectively. An overall 94.1 % of population was Rh (D)positive. Blood group A and B were A comparision of the ABO blood group and Rh(D) factor of the N.W.F.P., with that of Karachi population, shows that there...

ABackground & Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between parents' ABO and Rh blood groups on the secondary sex ratio and location of the placenta (as a mediator between blood groups and sex ratio), due to the existence of evidence that the implantation site and embryo gender are related.   Materials & Methods: 200 neonates born during 2014 to 2016 at Al-Zahra Hosp...

Background: Hepatitis is among the major health problems, especially in developing countries. During past decades, the association between type of blood group (ABO) and hepatitis B and C virus has always been discussed. This study was designed to investigate the possible association between type of ABO blood group and chronic hepatitis B and C infection. Methods: In the present analytical stud...

One hundred patients were studied and 93 of them suffered from Pemphigus Vulgaris and 7 of them were suffered from Pemphigus Foliaceus. The results were compared with control group. Results : There is not relationship between blood group and Pemphigus, but incidence of Pemphigus in Rh+ patients is more than Rh- patients.

Rh (rhesus) D is the dominant antigen of the Rh blood group system. Recent advances in characterization of the nucleotide sequence of the cDNA(s) encoding the Rh D polypeptide allow the determination of the Rh D genotype at the DNA level. This can be of help in cases in which red blood cells are not available for phenotyping, eg, when in concerns a fetus. We have tested three independent DNA ty...

Background: Blood is a specialized connective tissue with complete and unchangeable identity. Although almost 400 blood grouping antigens have been reported, the ABO and Rh is recognized as the major clinically significant blood group antigens which are also known to vary from one population to another. This study therefore sought to study the frequency of these indices and hemoglobin concentra...

Antigens of the ABO blood group system (i.e., A, B, and H antigens) and Rhesus factor were discovered more than one century ago by karl & steiner [1,2] who is considering the father of transfusion medicine, and with this discovery he enabling physicians to transfuse blood without endangering the patient′s life. The ABO antigens are defined by carbohydrate moieties on the extracellular surface o...

African individuals harbor molecular RH variants, which permit alloantibody formation to high-prevalence Rh antigens after transfusions. Genotyping identifies such RH variants, which are often missed by serologic blood group typing. Comprehensive molecular blood group analysis using 3 genotyping platforms, nucleotide sequencing, and serologic evaluation was performed on a 7-year-old African mal...
