Phytochemical investigation of the root extract of Terminalia glaucescens afforded three known compounds, ellagic acid 1, arjungenin 2, hypatic acid 3 and and a new triterpenoid named glaucescic acid, 2α,3α,6α,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid 4. The structure and relative configuration of this new compound was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data, especially 2D NMR techniques.
ABSTRACT The genus Melocactus (“cabeça-de-frade”) comprises 32 species in Brazil, of which M. glaucescens and paucispinus are threatened with extinction. present work evaluated the effects different concentrations Murashige & Skoog (MS, MS/2 MS/4) culture medium sucrose (15 g L-1 30 L-1) on vitro seed germination plant growth efficiency sterilization sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) when using s...
Seaweed extracts of Sargassum cinereum was used as a reducing agent in the eco-friendly extracellular synthesis of silver nanoparticles from an aqueous solution of silver nitrate (AgNO3). High conversion of silver ions to silver nanoparticles was achieved with a reaction temperature of 100(°) and a seaweed extract concentration of 10% with a residential time of 3 h. Formation of silver nanopart...
With fossil fuels being the primary source of energy in today’s world, different types biofuels and bioenergy have been proposed to reduce our reliance on them. In recent years, Mexico has suffering from overaccumulation macroalgae species known as Sargassum its Caribbean coastal shoreline. The purpose this study is investigate usage Sargassum feedstock for...
Background: Studies have shown that abdominal adhesions occur due to an oxidative stress by ROS. Sargassum sp. extract contains many antioxidative compounds that might be utilized to interrupt this process. This study intends to study the efficacy of Sargassum sp. extract on preventing abdominal adhesions. Methods: In this study, 20 female rats were divided into two groups. Group 1 receive Sarg...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Leishmaniasis is a protozoan parasitic disease which is transmitted by the female Phlebotomus sand fly and is prevalent in four continents. The first-choice treatment for the leishmaniasis is pentavalent antimonials, which are potentially toxic and often ineffective and use of them exhibit therapeutic failure. These pharmaceutical problems point towards the need to deve...
Background: Synadenium glaucescens and Commiphora swynnertonii are among the reported plants used traditionally for treatment of bacterial infections. This study reports antibacterial effects single combined extracts from leaves, stem root barks glaucescens. Materials Methods: Plants were collected Manyara Njombe regions in Tanzania.
