In this paper we describe a lightweight approach for semantic interoperability suitable for small and micro enterprises. The approach is based on reusing the existing enterprise infrastructure – emails and documents – and enables lightweight semantic search and recommendation in order to fulfill interoperability tasks.
Semantic similarity measurement plays a significant role in semantic interoperability and in information retrieval within the geo domain as it supports the detection of conceptually close but not identical entities. In featurebased models, the similarity measurement is done by comparing common and different features such as parts, attributes and functions. This paper suggests adding thematic ro...
This paper describes a novel approach for obtaining semantic interoperability in a bottom-up, semi-automatic manner without relying on pre-existing, global semantic models. We assume that large amounts of data exist that have been organized and annotated according to local schemas. Seeing semantics as a form of agreement, our approach enables the participating data sources to incrementally deve...
Service Oriented Architectures represent a huge step towards providing simpler, more dynamic and cheaper integration solutions. But SOA cannot and it is not meant to solve all the heterogeneity problems inherent to enterprise integration tasks. Semantics is coming to offer the tools to enable scalable, efficient and cost effective solutions to some of these problems. Using ontologies and semant...
The amount of medical information has generated challenges for interoperability between health information systems (HIS). In the enterprise engineering context, is desirable the enterprise integration through interoperability of its systems. The semantic interoperability SI in HIS is the ability of such systems for exchanging data between themselves despite the different terminologies adopted. ...
This open access book discusses significantly recent advances in semantic interoperability for materials modelling
The next generation of the Web is often characterized as the “Semantic Web”: information will no longer only be intended for human readers, but also for processing by machines, enabling intelligent information services, personalized Web-sites, and semantically empowered search-engines. The Semantic Web requires interoperability on the semantic level. Semantic interoperability requires standards...
