background & objectives: neutrophils are the most important member of granulocytes & the first line of host defence against micro-organisms. they kill micro-organisms entering the body by phagocytic activity. one of the important phases of phagocytic activity is respiratory burst which can be effected by different drugs such as cimetidine. in this study the effects of cimetidine on respiratory ...

We introduce the use of conditional generative adversarial networks forgeneralised gravitational wave burst generation in time domain.Generativeadversarial are machine learning models that produce new databased on features training data set. condition network fiveclasses time-series signals often used to characterise waveburst searches: sine-Gaussian, ringdown, white noise burst, Gaussian pulse...

We evaluate the ability of the BATSE spectroscopy detectors to detect the absorption lines observed by Ginga in gamma ray burst spectra. We find that BATSE can detect the 20.6 keV line in the S1 segment of GB870303 with a detection probability of ∼ 1/4 in nearly normally incident bursts, with the probability dropping off to nearly 0 at a burst angle of 50◦; the lines at 19.4 and 38.8 keV lines ...

Context. Clustering in the luminosity of the afterglows of gamma-ray burst has been reported in the optical and X-ray. Aims. We investigate the possibility that a clustering in the luminosity of the afterglows of gamma-ray burst exists in near infrared (J, H, K bands). We use observations of events occurring from 1997 to the end of 2007. Methods. We correct the gamma-ray burst afterglow light c...

Relay cells of the lateral geniculate nucleus respond to visual stimuli in one of two modes: burst and tonic. The burst mode depends on the activation of a voltage-dependent, Ca2+ conductance underlying the low threshold spike. This conductance is inactivated at depolarized membrane potentials, but when activated from hyperpolarized levels, it leads to a large, triangular, nearly all-or-none de...

A topical task is the classi cation of burst-like signals, e.g. in signal detection. Piano sounds are used here as an example. Di erent time-frequency methods including wavelet processing are used alternatively for feature extraction. A classi er checks whether the generated features are su cient to identify the correct piano. Results of the real data signal processing are presented and discussed.

We search for gravitational-wave transients associated with gamma-ray bursts detected by the Fermi and Swift satellites during first part of third observing run Advanced LIGO Virgo (1 April 2019 15:00 UTC - 1 October UTC). 105 were analyzed using a generic transients; 32 that specifically targets neutron star binary mergers as short burst progenitors. describe method to calculate probability tr...

Nanosecond pulsed electric fields (nsPEFs) have great potential for biotechnological and medical applications. However, the biological mechanisms causing the cellular responses are still far from understood. We used the unicellular green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as experimental model to dissect the immediate consequences of electroporation from the developmental cellular responses evoked...

In this paper we present a technique for detecting and locating burst events in pipelines. The proposed method uses wavelet analysis of the high-rate pressure data to detect pipe burst events. Multiscale wavelet analysis of the pressure signal will be shown to be robust to impulsive noise encountered in the physical phenomena under observation. The wavelet coefficients also allow us to obtain a...

This study describes a method of quantitatively characterizing cough sounds using digital signal processing techniques. Differences between asthmatic and non-asthmatic cough sounds are presented. Coughs from 12 asthmatic and 5 non-asthmatic subjects were analysed. Cough sounds and flows were digitized, at a sampling rate of 5 kHz, before and after a free-running exercise test. Individual coughs...
