part of artistic expression (for example, any pencil or pen-and-ink drawing), scientific illustrations (medical or technical), or entertainment graphics (such as in comics). Hence, computer graphics researchers have extensively studied the automatic generation of such lines. In particular, the area of nonphotorealistic rendering has focused on two main directions of research in this respect: th...
The idea of photometric stereo is to serially vary the direction of incident illumination on the state of the holded view point, but it can locally reconstruct only the front surface to a view point. However the silhouette informations obtained by plural viewing directions provide the entire 3D structure of an object surface, but the 3D information of the region whose edge is unexposed to the v...
This paper presents a novel approach for silhouette extraction from multi-viewpoint images. The main contribution of this paper is a new algorithm for 1) 3D context-aware error detection and correction of 2D multi-viewpoint silhouette extraction and 2) 3D context-aware classification of castshadow regions. Some experiments demonstrate advantages against previous approaches.
We present a simple method for improving the rendered appearance of coarse triangular meshes. We refine and modify the geometry along silhouette edges in real-time, and thus increase the geometric complexity only where needed. We address how to define the improved silhouette and a method to blend the modified and the original geometry continuously. §
Shape from Silhouette (SfS) is the general term used to refer to the techniques that obtain a volume estimate from a set of binary images. In a first step, a number of images are taken from different positions around the scene of interest. Later, each image is segmented to produce binary masks, also called silhouettes, to delimit the objects of interest. Finally, the volume estimate is obtained...
Thoracic radiographic findings for dogs with cardiac tamponade attributable to pericardial effusion.
OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence of various radiographic findings for dogs with cardiac tamponade (CT) attributable to pericardial effusion (PE) and to determine the sensitivity and specificity of such findings for identification of affected dogs. DESIGN Retrospective, randomized, blinded, controlled study. ANIMALS 50 dogs with CT attributable to PE and 23 control dogs (10 healthy dogs...
