We studied the interrater variability among three neurologists of the diagnosis of a seizure in 100 patients evaluated for a possible "first seizure." We found that use of simple descriptive diagnostic criteria and discussion among the neurologists themselves improved the diagnostic agreement.
Routine EEGs remain a cornerstone test in caring for people with epilepsy. Although rare, a self-limited seizure (clinical or electrographic only) may be observed during such brief EEGs. The implications of observing a seizure in this situation, especially with respect to inferring the underlying seizure frequency, are unclear. The issue is complicated by the inaccuracy of patient-reported esti...
Many types of electrographic seizures are readily identifiable by direct visual examination of electroencephalographic or electrocorticographic recordings. This process can, however, be painstakingly slow, and much effort has been expended to automate the process using various dynamic properties of epileptiform waveforms. As methods have become more subtle and powerful they have been used for s...
Febrile seizures are common and mostly benign. They are the most common cause of seizures in children less than five years of age. There are two categories of febrile seizures, simple and complex. Both the International League against Epilepsy and the National Institute of Health has published definitions on the classification of febrile seizures. Simple febrile seizures are mostly benign, but ...

The generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method is used to obtain the computational results of two-layer cross-ply laminated shell under rapid uniform heat induced vibration. In the thermally insulated vibration analyses of a laminated shell, the sudden uniform heat input over its lower surface only and temperature load is linear of axial coordinate. The GDQ method provides a method for ca...
