INTRODUCTION: Automatic visual analysis of human motion is an active research topic in Computer Vision and its interest has been growing in the last decade. Visual analysis of human movement is used in the fields of Medical, Occupational and Sports Biomechanics. The main purpose of this staudy is to present a 2D model-based Path Relinking Particle Filter (PRPF) algorithm for human motion tracki...
BACKGROUND Paralympic sports provide opportunities for those who have an impairment that might otherwise be a barrier to participation in regular sporting competition. Rifle shooting represents an ideal sport for persons with vision impairment (VI) because the direction of the rifle can be guided by auditory information when vision is impaired. However, it is unknown whether those with some rem...
Abstract In the growing field of sports vision little is still known about unique attributes of visual processing in ice hockey and what role visual processing plays in the overall athlete's performance. In the present study we evaluated whether visual, perceptual and cognitive/motor variables collected using the Nike SPARQ Sensory Training Station have significant relevance to the real game st...
Virtual reality has a number of advantages for analyzing sports interactions such as the standardization of experimental conditions, stereoscopic vision and complete control of animated humanoid movement. Nevertheless, in order to be useful for sports applications, accurate perception of simulated movement in the virtual sports environment is essential. This perception depends on parameters of ...
We describe a complete system for image rectification in sport video sequences. Relying both on geometrical properties of the field elements and on photogrammetric data, we compute an estimate of the field-to-image homography either incrementally – by inter-image data processing – or “from scratch” when direct image-model correspondences are possible. Examples are given in a soccer context.
Previous studies of multiple-object tracking have shown that gaze behavior is affected by target collisions and target-distractor crowding. Therefore, in order to experimentally disentangle this collision-crowding confound, we examined events of target collisions with the bordering frame and crowding with distractors. We hypothesized that collisions are particularly demanding for covert attenti...
This year, the Computer Vision Group at University of Central Florida participated in two tasks in TRECVID 2004: High-Level Feature Extraction and Story Segmentation. For feature extraction task, we have developed the detection methods for “Madeleine Albright”, “Bill Clinton”, “Beach”, “Basketball Scored” and “People Walking/Running”. We used the adaboost technique, and has employed the speech ...
This paper introduces CameramanVis, an interactive visualization system for visualizing correlation between camera angles and player locations for soccer games. The system supports computer vision researchers to browse the soccer data, to identify camera angle and player location patterns, and to identify and compare outliers. The system visualizes camera angle, player locations and their corre...
Image annotation as well as classification are both critical and challenging work in computer vision research. Due to the rapid increasing number of images and inevitable biased annotation or classification by the human curator, it is desired to have an automatic way. Recently, there are lots of methods proposed regarding image classification or image annotation. However, people usually treat t...
Arousal has long been known to influence behavior and serves as an underlying component of cognition and consciousness. However, the consequences of hyper-arousal for visual perception remain unclear. The present study evaluates the impact of hyper-arousal on two aspects of visual sensitivity: visual stereoacuity and contrast thresholds. Sixty-eight participants participated in two experiments....
