which is considerably longer than previous measurements at the same mesh Reynolds number (Re = 48260). The stratified experiment resulted in a decay rate virtually identical to that of the neutral case through W,t/M = 275. However the decay rate sharply decreased after this time when the field of turbulence was replaced by internal gravity waves. A critical Richardson number marks the transitio...

advantages and disadvantages of using “stokes parameters” in exploration of inertia-gravity wave properties are discussed in this paper. the survey is carried out on an inertia-gravity wave event (igws in what follows) that occurred over iran from 7 to 9 february 2012. applying this technique for investigation of atmospheric igws was recommended by vincent and fritts (1987) and then developed b...

The particular example given in §6 of Crowdy and Tanveer [1] to illustrate the general theory is in error because it is not consistent with the original assumptions underlying the theory. The theory developed in earlier sections assumes that a single-valued analytic function F(ζ, t) can be found in the annulus ρ(t) < |ζ | < 1 when the integration constants AO(t) and AI (t) in equations (16) and...

In this paper, we study the low Mach number limit of full compressible Navier–Stokes equations with revised Maxwell law in $$\mathbb {R}^3$$ . By applying uniform estimates error system, prove that solutions time relaxation converge to incompressible as tends zero. Moreover, convergence rates are also obtained.

The Stokes problem describes flow of an incompressible constant-viscosity fluid when the Reynolds number is small so that inertial and transient-time effects are negligible. The numerical solution of the Stokes problem requires special care, since classical finite element discretization schemes, such as piecewise linear interpolation for both the velocity and the pressure, fail to perform. Even...
