INTRODUCTION Decompressive surgery for acute subdural hematoma leading to contralateral extradural hematoma is an uncommon event with only few cases previously reported in the English medical literature. CASE PRESENTATION The present study describes the case of a 39-year-old White Brazilian man who had a motorcycle accident; he underwent decompressive craniectomy for the treatment of acute su...
One case of traumatic posterior fossa subdural hematoma (PFSH) is described. This location represent 1% of the subdural hematomas. Computerized Tomography (CT) was used in the diagnosis and follow-up of the hematoma. The etiology and physiopathology of this process are discussed.
Percutaneous epidural neuroplasty (PEN) is a known interventional technique for the management of spinal pain. As with any procedures, PEN is associated with complications ranging from mild to more serious ones. We present a case of intracranial subdural hematoma after PEN requiring surgical evacuation. We review the relevant literature and discuss possible complications of PEN and patholophysi...
Bilateral interhemispheric subdural hematoma is a rare posttraumatic lesion that has only received mention in the radiologic literature [1], and a mere four cases have been acknowledged in the medical literature [1, 2]. It is usually associated with severe trauma or extenuating circumstances (anticoagulation, ventriculoperitoneal shunt). We report a fifth case of bilateral interhemispheric subd...
Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a syndrome in which hypovolemia of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) results in various symptoms. Although its prognosis is usually benign, cases with a rapid neurologic deterioration resulting in an altered mental status have been reported. One of the characteristic radiographic findings in such cases is the presence of bilateral accumulation of subdur...

Sir, Subdural hematoma has a higher mortality rate with hemodialysis patients than the normal population but it rarely occurs in association with chronic peritoneal dialysis. We describe for the first time a case of chronic renal failure on CAPD for last two years who developed spontaneous subdural hematoma, managed successfully with surgical treatment. The development of subdural hematoma in t...
We herein present the case of a 49-year-old female patient presenting with nausea and headache. The patient's medical history included breast cancer with bone and lymph node metastasis. Computed tomography (CT) examination revealed a high-density lesion in the right subdural space, suggesting hematoma. During surgery planned for subdural hematoma drainage, an en plaque subdural yellowish-white ...
UNLABELLED OBJECTIVE : To describe a surgical technique and to report using a retrospective study the efficacy of peritoneal shunts for the treatment of recurrent/chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). We describe the considerations, complications, and outcomes related to this technique. METHODS : In a retrospective cohort study, 125 charts with a diagnosis of subacute/chronic subdural hematoma were...
