BACKGROUND To ensure safe performance in robotic surgery, the Minimal Invasive Surgery Center (MISC) is composed of the anesthesiology department, five surgery departments and co-medical staff in our institution. The objective of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of different types of robotic surgeries for cancer treatment (n = 326) from different surgery departments in the MISC. METHOD...

Head and neck cancer is a complex pathology whose incidence has increased in recent years. The primary treatment surgery, which involves extensive mutilating interventions through the cervical region, leaving significant anatomofunctional sequelae. Since 2009, use of robotic surgery using Da Vinci® system been consensus for resecting oropharyngeal supraglottic tumors transoral surgery. Subseque...

BACKGROUND Current management of laryngeal malignancies is associated with significant morbidity. Application of minimally invasive transoral techniques may reduce the morbidity associated with traditional procedures. The purpose of this study was to present our investigation of the utility of a novel flexible robotic system for transoral supraglottic laryngectomy and total laryngectomy. METH...

Thyroglossal duct and lingual thyroid ectopic lesions are exceedingly rare synchronous findings. Papillary thyroid carcinoma of these ectopic thyroid sites is well understood but still a rare finding. This case points to some management nuances in regard to ectopic thyroid screening with imaging and also shows the effectiveness of minimally invasive transoral robotic surgery for lingual thyroid.

BACKGROUND This is a single-institution prospective study in a tertiary care center to evaluate feasibility, completeness of resection, and functional outcomes for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) treated primarily with transoral robotic-assisted resection. METHODS Thirty-five patients with T1 and T2 squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx were included. They underwent transoral ...
