In the present study, the dynamic compressive behavior of aluminum-alloy-based tetrahedral-core truss structures is investigated as a function of impact velocity using a split Hopkinson pressure bar. The results are used to understand the phenomenon of buckling in truss structures as a function of loading rates and test temperatures, and its implication on the dynamic crush resistance of tetrah...

We present and motivate a new model of the truss topology design problem, where the rigidity of the resulting truss with respect both to given loading scenarios and small “occasional” loads is optimized. It is shown that the resulting optimization problem is a semidefinite program. We derive and analyze several equivalent reformulations of the problem and present illustrative numerical examples.

An automated design synthesis method is developed to design an airfoil with a reconfigurable shape, which can change from one type of geometry to another. A design synthesis method using unit truss approach and particle swarm optimization is presented. In the unit truss approach, unit truss is used as a new unit cell for mechanics analysis of cellular structures, including lightweight structure...

The United States Navy sponsored Truss Damping Program is a research study in the area of submarine noise reduction. The research explores the feasibility of effectively attenuating noise associated with vibration of rotating machinery by means of a truss support structure. Such a structure occupies the entire machinery space by supporting all internal equipment. This thesis explores the dynami...

We consider the community search problem defined upon a large graph G: given a query vertex q in G, to find as output all the densely connected subgraphs of G, each of which contains the query v. As an online, query-dependent variant of the well-known community detection problem, community search enables personalized community discovery that has found widely varying applications in real-world, ...

In this investigation, the authors intend to demonstrate the applicability of a recent spotlighted metaheuristic called the great salmon run (TGSR) algorithm for shape and size design of truss structures. The algorithmic functioning of TGSR emulates the annual migration of salmons together with dangers laid through their pathways. In a previous study by the authors, it has been proved that the ...

Through the pseudo-static test on the steel truss coupling beams with buckling-restrained brace, the bearing capacity, deformation capacity, hysteresis curve, skeleton curve, ductility, Energy Dissipation and stiffness degradation of such coupling beam are understood. The test results show that the steel truss coupling beams with buckling-restrained brace is characterized by bigger bearing capa...

A novel parameterization concept for structural truss topology optimization is presented in this article that enables the use of evolutionary algorithms in design of large-scale structures. The representational power of Boolean networks is used here to parameterize truss topology. A genetic algorithm then operates on parameters that govern the generation of truss topologies using this random ne...

Article describes modeling processes influencing the lines in rods load truss of bridge crane Mathcad system: for top belt a truss; bottom diagonal and vertical at various section algorithm program complex automation graphical representation influence maximum their values. The proposed procedures any make it possible to reduce time cost these calculations’ performance least ten times carry out ...

Recent developments in Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) have opened up new possibilities in the domain of inverse problems. For inverse problems like structural identification of large structures (such as bridges) where in situ measured data are expected to be imprecise and often incomplete, ANNs may hold greater promise. This study presents a method for estimating the damage intensities of jo...
