If tubercle bacilli could be easily detected in clinical samples with gram staining, it would be possible to detect tuberculosis more promptly and easily, which may contribute to tuberculosis control. In this paper, we present three infective tuberculosis cases in which gram staining easily detected tubercle bacilli before Ziehl-Neelsen (Z-N) staining and diagnosed by polymerase chain reaction ...

the resistant* of patesa against lateral displacement (le. the stability), was studied tinder a range of conditions in vitro, at a range of knee flexion angles. muscle forces were applied in physiological directions along the separate quadriceps muscles. normal muscle actions with constant tension showed constant patellar stability up to sixty degrees knee flexion, and then a significant increa...

The purpose of this case report was to present a rare case of optic disk tubercle. The optic disk edema resolved on antituberculous therapy with recovery of vision. We concluded that visual loss from an optic disk tubercle can be the presenting sign of tuberculosis.

1. Tubercle bacilli when suspended in. distilled water, normal salt solution, bouillon and milk, are destroyed at 60 degrees C. in 15 to 20 minutes. The larger number are destroyed in 5 to 10 minutes. 2. When tubercle bacilli are suspended in milk, the pellicle which forms during the exposure at 60 degrees C. may contain living bacilli after 60 minutes.

Nonsyndromic multiple supernumerary teeth (ST) and Leong's tubercle are a condition with a very low prevalence and a multidisciplinary approach is required to restore function and aesthetics. So, this case report aimed at presenting a rare case of nonsyndromic nine supernumerary teeth and Leong's tubercle in a pediatric patient, without any evident familial history, showing its diagnosis and su...

The patellofemoral joint presents a complex challenge to the surgeon. There are many surgical options for treatment, but none is universally successful in all cases. Tibial tubercle osteotomy has a long history in the distal approach to treating patellar problems. The current approach to the patellofemoral joint continues to evolve. Previous standard measurements and treatments are being re-exa...

Jobling and Petersen10 presented evidence as long ago as 1914 that the lipoids of tubercle bacilli inhibit proteolytic enzymes. More recently, Peck"5 has shown that these lipoids also inhibit crystallized trypsin and that the higher the molecular weight of the lipoid the greater is its interference with the enzyme function. Further investigation involving fractions of tubercle bacilli and enzym...

I n his Opinion [1], Noel Smith questions that the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) is a successful clone that emerged from a much broader and ancient mycobacterial species, whose extant representatives are Mycobacterium canettii and other smooth tubercle bacilli [2]. He suggests that our conclusion is weak because he sees it as solely based on comparison of single nucleotide polymorph...

STUDY DESIGN A prospective sonographic study. PURPOSE To verify the effectiveness of simultaneous application of two landmarks, Doppler image of the vertebral artery and shape of the transverse tubercle of the seventh cervical (C7) vertebra. OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE Counting upwards from the C7 vertebra which only has a posterior tubercle of the transverse process is a commonly used method fo...

The tibial tubercle (interchangeable with tuberosity) is the most distal anchor of the extensor mechanism and can serve as a tool in altering patellofemoral (PF) mechanics. Known collectively as distal realignment procedures, osteotomies of the tibial tubercle are a useful method to treat a variety of PF conditions by allowing coronal, axial, and sagittal plane adjustments of the patellofemoral...
