among the low–dimensional allotropes of carbon, nanotubes and graphene have attracted very much attention from nano–science and nanotechnology specialists. they have been proposed as building blocks in nanometer device engineering. however, these structures are not defect–free. in this thesis, we focused on defective carbon nanotubes and graphene, and studied the effect of couple of very common...

A new fluid property module, EOSRn, was developed for TOUGH2 to simulate the transport of the radon gas (Rn) in saturatedunsaturated soils. It is an enhanced version of the EOS7R module for radionuclide transport, with a source term added in the transport equation to model radon generation by emanation from radioactive decay of the soil radium (Ra) content. We implemented physical properties of...

The computerized modeling tool for DEDSs (that are highly event-driven) is given. Statecharts formalism is used for description of the system's behaviour. The graphics-based tool Stacha contains GUI which enables to draw the Statecharts and to specify the behaviour of the system under development. The described modeling tool further enables to analyse the system properties (such as liveness, re...

In distributed systems, servers offer their service to independent clients. It is the load balancing problem to assign jobs to servers. Dynamic load balancing has great potential to outperform static policies in spite of the overhead for measurement and system state information exchange. Problems arise if the system state information used as criterion for the job assignment is not up to date. T...

2014 We study dense packings of particles with interactions favouring pentagonal symmetry. Such structures can be obtained by decorations of Penrose tilings or directly with a cut-and-projection method. We prove that they form the degenerated ground-state in the case of pair potentials limited to first neighbours and for interaction strength parameters lying in broad ranges of values. Cooling r...

A two-compartment fusion system designed to reduce high rates of false alarm (FAR) in single channel monitoring systems was tested with physiological data from pilots exposed to high +Gz forces on a human centrifuge. The first compartment expands input signals into time-frequency domain, where transient changes are captured by wavelet coefficients in frequency ranges of interest. The second com...

We consider a four-state pure bipartite system consisting of four qubits shared among two parties using the same Schmidt basis, two qubits per party. In some cases, transformation between two known pure states may not be possible using LOCC transformations but may be possible with the addition of a two-qubit catalyst. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for this to occur.

It is important for critical applications to provide critical services without any integrity or availability degradation in the presence of intrusions. This requirement can be satisfied by intrusion masking techniques under some situations. Compared with intrusion tolerance techniques, where some integrity or availability degradations are usually caused, intrusion masking techniques use substan...

in the present work, we have examined the ability of some different equations of state in predicting the joule-thomson coefficient, ?j-t, of different fluids. for dense fluids, for which density is greater than the boyle density, ?b, two appropriate equations of state, namely the linear isotherm regularity, lir, and the dense system equation of state, dseos, have been examined. the results show...
