The Time-Domain Vector Fitting (TD-VF) algorithm for macromodeling of linear multiport systems is presented. A rational approximation for the system matrix transfer function is easily derived from transient input/output port responses. Several validations illustrate the high accuracy of the method.

This paper overviews some preliminary results on the control of humanoid robots when balancing on a seesaw. We first model the dynamics of the robot along with the seesaw, and then synthesize simple control strategies for balancing tasks. Preliminary validations of the framework have been conducted both on simulations and real scenarios involving the iCub robot balancing on a semi-cylindrical s...

This paper presents the use of the Particle Swarm Optimization for the identification of Jiles-Atherton model parameters. This approach is tested on two magnetic materials : NO 3% SiFe and NiFe 20-80. Results are compared with those obtained with a direct search method. Experimental validations are also presented.

The use of assimilation tools for satellite validation requires true estimates of the accuracy of the reference data. Since its inception, the Network for Detection of Stratospheric Change (NDSC) has provided systematic lidar measurements of ozone and temperature at several places around the world that are well adapted for satellite validations. Regular exercises have been organised to ensure t...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The ABCD system was derived to predict early risk of stroke after transient ischemic attack. Independent validations have reported conflicting results. We therefore systematically reviewed published and unpublished data to determine predictive value and generalizability to different clinical settings and users. METHODS Validations of the ABCD and ABCD2 scores were ident...

In this paper we investigate the problem of validating, with constant memory, streaming XML documents with respect to a DTD. Such constant memory validations can only be performed for some but not all DTDs. This paper gives a non trivial interesting step towards characterizing those DTDs for which a constant-memory on-line algorithm exists.

The purpose of this paper is to provide robust experimental validations of timing jitter measurements and to derive some applications in the field of Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) characterisation. The timing jitter measurements are obtained by use of a recently proposed method, which is based on the use of two ADCs driven by the same input and clock signals.

The CDM is a peer-reviewed, validated model, which employs standard Markov techniques to describe the long-term incidence and progression of diabetes-related complications. A complete description of the CORE Diabetes Model, including validations, can be found in the literature1,2. The cohort characteristics was based on the Opt2mise3 study for age, diabetes duration, gender proportion and HbA1c...

This paper compares several model selection methods, based on experimental estimates of their generalization errors. Experiments in the context of nonlinear time series prediction by Radial-Basis Function Networks show the superiority of the bootstrap methodology over classical cross-validations and leave-one-out.
