Repetitive minor vascular injuries caused by physical activity in athletes may lead to ischaemia of the upper extremities. In volleyball players in particular, traumatic aneurysm of the posterior circumflex humeral artery has been reported to be a cause of ischaemia of the arm and hand. Such an aneurysm is described here; it was treated successfully with endovascular embolisation.

A 96-year-old male presented with left lower extremity pain, swelling, and vascular compromise. Computed tomographic angiography revealed an actively rupturing distal superficial femoral artery aneurysm. The patient underwent prompt aneurysm excision with graft interposition and had a successful postoperative outcome. Our case illustrates the critical role of imaging in establishing a definitiv...

There is increasing concern about vascular and cardiac involvement in systemic sclerosis (SSc). This is a systemic infiltrative disorder that commonly affects the cardiovascular system and this case is presented to draw attention to the possibility of a pathophysiological connection between SSc and cardiovascular aneurysm formation. No data exist on the incidence or natural history of aneurysm ...

The advent of stents has profoundly changed percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), peripheral transluminal artery angioplasty (PTA), and treatment strategies of numerous other problems. Similar developments can be observed for stent applications in peripheral vascular lesions, cerebro-vascular disease, and many other fields. With the advent of covered stent-grafts, aneurysm surg...

Aneurysm of vein of Galen is a rare congenital malformation with reported incidence of less than 1% of cerebral vascular malformations. Most cases present in neonatal life with congestive cardiac failure. We report a case of aneurysm of vein of Galen diagnosed in intrauterine life at 36 weeks of gestation. The importance of third trimester Doppler ultrasound is highlighted.

The pathogenesis of TA is poorly understood. Vessel inflammation results in wall thickening, fibrosis, stenosis and thrombus formation.2 Panarteritis with adventitial and intimal scarring extends distally from the aorta into its branches, causing narrowing and occlusions. Inflammation can destroy the arterial media and lead to aneurysm formation.2 Morbidity due to vascular occlusion and aneurys...

It is well known that spontaneous thrombosis in giant cerebral aneurysm is common. However, spontaneous obliteration of a non-giant and unruptured cerebral aneurysm has been reported to be rare and its pathogenic mechanism is not clear. We describe a case with rare vascular phenomenon and review the relevant literatures.

Rendu-Osler-Weber syndrome, or hereditary hemorrhagic teleangiectasia (HHT), is a rare autosomal dominant vascular disorder, characterized by multiple mucocutaneous teleangiectases with recurrent nasal and gastrointestinal bleedings and/or solid-organ arteriovenous shunts. We describe the first case to our knowledge of pancytopenia in a 53-year-old patient, with a known history of HHT and recur...

Aneurysms of the hand are rarely encountered and more rarely reported. The least common locations of these aneurysms are the palmar and digital arteries. The etiologies of these entities are quite varied, although they usually present as a pulsatile mass. Following a thorough evaluation, including arterial anatomic imaging, they should be repaired. The reported results following repair have bee...
